Position – Oracle SQL Sybase Database Administrator WITH A SECRET CLEARANCE

Location – Washington, DC This position is both remote and on-site, the candidate must be on-site as needed (assume at least 2 or 3 days a week on-site) to support the high side (classified) environments.

Contract – Supporting Department of Commerce (DOC)

Must have at least a Secret ClearanceMindbank Consulting Group has an immediate need for an Oracle SQL Sybase Database Administrator to provide support to the Department of Commerce. The United States Department of Commerce’s (DOC) National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) is the Presidents principal adviser on telecommunications and information policy issues. NTIA manages the Federal use of the electromagnetic (EM) spectrum; and performs cutting-edge telecommunications research and engineering, including resolving technical telecommunications issues for the Federal Government and private sector.

Oracle SQL Sybase Database Administrator Responsibilities:
  • Provide Oracle, SQL Server, and Sybase database administration.
  • Provide server administration with a variety of database products that include Oracle, MS SQL Server, and Sybase.
  • Maintain, upgrade, and support NTIA’s Oracle, SQL Server, and Sybase databases.
  • Supports the development and sustainment of Oracle, MS SQL Server, and Sybase databases, including database upgrades, performance tuning, database backup, database restore, and database replication, and develop plans and procedures to support those activities.
  • Tests database performance and functionality in response to required upgrades to operating systems and web browsers.
  • Experience with all aspects of database administration including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, migration, capacity planning, performance tuning, query optimization, backup and recovery.
  • Experience hardening of databases according to DISA Secure Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs).
  • Ability to develop scripts to automate routine jobs; Update or replace existing database installation scripts.
  • Proficient with network troubleshooting tools and techniques.
  • On-going database performance monitoring and database tuning; tune database for optimal performance.
  • Assist with failover activities for both the low and high side.
  • Experience with change management including maintenance of multiple development, test, QA, and production environments.
  • Able to support proactive database monitoring and issue resolution.
  • Able to support implementation of application software releases and other related activities.
  • Ensure high availability of databases for user access/ applications.
  • NTIA has around 12 applications; one or two are using Sybase, three or four are using Oracle, and the rest are using SQL Server.

Oracle SQL Sybase Database Administrator Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience
  • 8+ years of related systems engineering experience
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience as an Oracle Database Administrator
  • Minimum 4+ years’ experience with MS SQL SERVER, SYBASE
  • Significant experience working with SQL Server and Sybase, such as patching, upgrading, performing backups, and tuning.
  • Oracle certification
