PROJECT MANAGER – QA / QC
Kumi Construction Management Corporation (KUMI) is seeking a Project Manager who will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the QA/QC program for facilities-related construction projects. This position ensures all work complies with contract documents, building codes, industry standards, and client requirements. The role includes oversight of design reviews, inspections, documentation control, stakeholder coordination, and closeout quality verification.
Key Responsibilities
Develop a project-specific QA/QC Management Plan tailored to the project’s scope, phasing, and environmental or regulatory constraints.
Align QA/QC procedures with applicable building codes, client standards, safety regulations, environmental requirements, and accessibility guidelines.
Establish quality benchmarks for demolition, new construction, renovations, site work, and specialty systems.
Review design documents for constructability, quality risks, and coordination gaps across architectural, structural, MEP, civil, and specialty disciplines.
Identify potential conflicts between trades and highlight quality or compliance concerns.
Track, log, and review contractor submittals for conformance with specifications, performance requirements, and regulatory standards.
Coordinate review cycles with the client and design team to ensure timely responses and clear documentation.
Conduct regular and targeted inspections for all trades and phases of work.
Verify installed work against approved submittals, specifications, drawings, and field directives.
Monitor implementation of safety, environmental, and erosion control measures as applicable.
Document observations and deficiencies in a standardized Deficiency Tracking Log (DTL) with photo evidence.
Identify nonconforming work or materials and classify severity.
Lead resolution meetings with contractors and project stakeholders.
Track and verify corrective measures to ensure issues are fully resolved and documented.
Maintain QA/QC-related logs including RFIs, ASIs, submittals, field directives, and inspection reports.
Ensure document traceability, version control, and timely updates.
Support the project team in document control protocols and quality workflows.
Assist in developing and validating punch list items during pre-final and final inspections.
Confirm corrective actions and validate that all quality requirements are met before substantial completion.
Support preparation of closeout documentation, including the Final QA/QC Summary Report.
Participate in regular progress meetings and lead quality-focused site walks.
Represent QA/QC interests in discussions related to compliance, material performance, and system functionality.
Support communication with project stakeholders regarding quality impacts, risks, and progress.
Minimum Qualifications
Must have a B.S. Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
10+ years of experience in construction QA/QC, inspection, or project management
Proven track record managing QA/QC for new construction, renovation, or modernization projects
Experience with commercial, municipal, or institutional building types preferred
Certifications such as OSHA 30, ICC, CCM, PE, or related QA/QC credentials preferred
Strong knowledge of building codes, permitting processes, and industry standards
Excellent communication, documentation, and coordination skills
