VEGA IS HIRING! Actively searching for an experienced Network Engineer for a long-term contract with our direct client in Washington, DC. This role will be remote, until it is deemed safe to return to the office. This role will support a number of LAN/WAN and data center office projects. The Senior, Network Engineer will be responsible in supporting current data network transport services. This includes routine maintenance, software and hardware upgrades, monitoring and troubleshooting. This candidate will work to optimize performance and adapt network design due to physical alterations and traffic requirements. Job Requirement
- 8+ Years of Experience
- BS Degree in Information Management or a related field, with 5+ years related experience and/or training in a routed network environment, multi-platform environment.
- Experience in design, installations and maintenance of enterprise network(s) to meet the functional objectives of the business.
- Must have exp. in network infrastructure, and the planning and design of enterprise local-area/wide-area network (LAN/WAN) solutions.
- Development, administration and maintenance of LAN and WAN infrastructure, ensuring 99.95% minimum availability.
- Must have a strong back ground in supporting data network transport services. Includes routine maintenance, software and hardware upgrades, monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Exp. with optimizing performance and adapting network design due to physical alterations and traffic requirements.
- Exp. Researching, engineering , and implementing new technology and tools to increase productivity, performance and efficiency. This includes utilizing the CareFirst lab facilities to thoroughly test all new network applications and future technologies
- Develop and maintain network documentation, policies, procedures and configuration information.
- Maintain data problem management procedures, network documentation, policies, and configuration information.
- Maintain network documentation, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Corporate security and audit regulations.
- Perform Project planning and coordination; and as required, assumption of project roles for projects.
- Back ground in mentoring and providing instruction to peers and staff on technology changes and guide less experienced staff to ensure consistency and compliance to departmental standards and policies.
