SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Senior Principal Technologist is a senior technical role and works on one or more projects of high complexity as the technology subject matter expert in DevSecOps domain.

Design and implement automated DevSecOps frameworks based on Amtrak specific standards and security guidelines in cloud eco system. Develop CI/CD pipelines that enables Amtrak's project development team to embrace security and governance aspects of software development life cycle.Implement Infrastructure as Code to realize automation and repeatable patterns in cloud.

When involved with a project team, leads complex system analysis and design activity, acts in a consultative manner and provides technical subject matter expertise, system implementation, administration, and technical support.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provides technical expertise across business functions. Identifies opportunities to improve business processes via new technologies.

Researches and analyzes advanced technology trends within DevSecOps and Cloud Management.

DevSecOps Lifecycle Management -Manage, collaborate, define, and implement CI/CD life cycle processes for cloud applications.Oversees technical efforts to troubleshoot new & existing applications to identify errors or deficiencies in build & deployment.

Software Development - Implement Infrastructure as Code and Automation using Cloudformation templates, Python, Bash, and Powershell

Project and User Access Management - Manage intake of all project and user. Perform regular user access audits and remediate discrepancies, if any. Applications within scope of responsibility include, but are not limited to, Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence, VisualSVN, PALM, and Jenkins.

Application and Tools Management - Responsible for the configuration and maintenance of the following DevSecOps toolset: Jenkins, Archiva, Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence, SonarQube, CheckMarx, Docker

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or related field • 12+ years of relevant technical work experience and preferably in a leadership or Subject Matter Expert capacity to satisfy education and experience requirements. • ITIL Certification or equivalent

Software Development • Hands on experience in Programming Languages (Bash, PowerShell, Java, Groovy, NodeJS, Python, Go, C#) • Fundamental knowledge on Operating Systems (Linux and Windows) • Knowledge of any SQL and NoSQL databases with respective interfacing constructs. • Basic computer networking knowledge (DNS, Active Directories) • JSON and YAML data constructs.

DevSecOps Tools • Jenkins, SonarQube, Checkmarx, AWS Codepipeline, SAST, DAST • Strong knowledge on Git workflows • Knowledge on CI/CD Pipeline development using Groovy (Jenkins), or AWS Codepipeline • Source Control Management (Bitbucket, GitHub, SVN, TFS, VCCS, Endevor)

Cloud • AWS CloudFormation templates, Boto3, EC2, Lambda, Secrets Manager, Parameter store, SQS, SNS, Systems Manager, S3, Service Catalog, ECS/EKS Fargate, Kinesis, VPC, etc • Cloud Networking. • AWS multi-region deployments • Knowledge on Microsoft Azure is a plus

Containers • Knowledge of any container orchestration such as AWS Elastic Container Services (ECS) or Kubernetes • Strong experience in building docker images and docker build pipelines.

Soft skills • Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills • Must work well with others in an integrated team environment • Must be motivated to self-learn • Passion for IT Automation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Master's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or other related field • Strong working knowledge of Cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud • Strong understanding of DevSecOps Lifecycle • Solid Experience in DevSecOps, Automation, and Infrastructure as Code • Experience with ServiceNOW, Office 365 Tools

WORK ENVIRONMENT: • Work performed in office and remotely • Team providing 24x7 systems operations and maintenance functions which could require might and weekend work to support incidents, outages, and/or planned production deployment functions
