Description We are offering a short-term contract employment opportunity for an Accounting Assistant in the government sector, located in Margate, Florida. This role involves a blend of administrative and accounting tasks, requiring a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to managing both building and finance department components.Responsibilities: Efficiently process online payments and batch payments, ensuring all transactions align with compliance standards. Handle and summarize various payments, providing accurate and timely invoicing. Review and verify the accuracy of various reports and applications, sharing relevant information as necessary. Utilize accounting software systems and enterprise resource planning tools to perform accounting functions and maintain accurate records. Manage record-keeping and filing systems specific to job duties, ensuring all information is up-to-date and easily accessible. Assist with the preparation of departmental budget reports, tracking orders across various divisions within the unit. Take telephone inquiries and complaints, discerning the nature of each call and directing it to the appropriate individual or department. Work independently with supervisors to process orders, public notice advertisements, invoices, bonds, and other related administrative tasks. Perform essential record-keeping duties, including auditing and bank reconciliations. Use modern office equipment, including computer and related hardware and software programs, to complete assigned work. Take on additional tasks as required, adapting to changing priorities and meeting departmental needs. Requirements Minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting role within the government sector Proficiency in accounting software systems Experience with ADP - Financial Services is required Familiarity with CaseWare is a necessity Must have experience with Concur Knowledge of ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning is essential Must be able to perform all accounting functions efficiently Experience in managing Accounts Payable (AP) is required Must have managed Accounts Receivable (AR) in previous roles Experience in auditing is a must Must have performed bank reconciliations in previous roles Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
