Description:You will be an Aircraft Mechanic working as part of the Collocated Maintenance Team (CMT) at Hurlburt Field, Florida. Our team performs letter check inspections for Air force Special Operations Command's fleet of heavily modified C-130 aircraft. Your efforts will help ensure that our warfighters have the necessary tools and equipment to deter our adversaries or if required, bring the tip of the spear to them.What You Will Be DoingAs the Aircraft Mechanic, your duties will include: Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, engines, auxiliary power unit and ventilation and heating systems. Repair, replace, and rebuild structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet guns, and drills. Read and interpret manufacturers’ and airline’s maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Perform 100-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections, inspects jet engine turbine blades to detect cracks, distortion, corrosion, burn-out, security, or breaks, tests, engine operation, using testing equipment, such as ignition analyzer, compression checker, distributer timer, ammeter, and jet calibration (Jetcal) tester, to locate source of malfunction. Adjust, repair, or replace electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories. Perform preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections. Perform miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.Please be aware that Lockheed Martin has recently identified that, on or before October 31, 2024, the associated scope of work will transition to a sub-contractor, which has not yet been identified. A company-sponsored interim secret is required to start.Basic Qualifications:Must be able to troubleshoot and/or repair malfunctions in the aircraft engine, auxiliary power unit, anti-icing and heating systems and all other supporting engine systems, performing all APU and AE2100D3 engine maintenance to specified Air Force C-130 standards to include required engine removal and installation and functional tests.Ability to perform on-aircraft engine runs (if required)Ability to perform all inspections, adjustments, alignments, rigging and calibration of engine torques and related propeller components to achieve maximum operating efficiency.Ability to inspect engines and APUs to determine and maintain serviceability.Have knowledge of aircraft fuel and mechanical principles applicable to aircraft fuel systems.Possess competent abilities in the use and application of hand tools, power tools, machines work stands, support equipment and special tools/calibrated test equipment.Possess the ability to read and interpret Air Force maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, diagrams, schematics, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damage components.Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance, therefore all candidates must be a US CitizenDesired Skills:Four (4) years of experience on C-130 aircraft, AE2100D3 engine and R391 Dowty propeller repairs.Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.Clearance Level: SecretOther Important Information You Should KnowExpression of Interest: By applying to this job, you are expressing interest in this position and could be considered for other career opportunities where similar skills and requirements have been identified as a match.
