DescriptionJob SummaryUnder general supervision, uses specialized knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to review financial items that impact Raymond James as a whole. Guidance is provided to perform varied moderately complex accounting activities with responsibility for making routine decisions. Some evaluation, originality and ingenuity are required to locate, select, apply and justify appropriate action for situations and circumstances that require a deviation from standard procedures. Resolves or recommends solutions to moderately complex problems. Regular contact with internal customers is required to identify, research, and recommend solutions to financial issues.Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assists in leading departmental teams to provide job related input to ensure all relevant information is considered.

Assists in preparing organization-wide surveys using various financial tools and resources and reviews results with management.

Organizes financial information and prepares management reports in a format that can be quickly reviewed by management.

Identifies potential process improvements to increase efficiency in processing or analyzing financial information.

Participates in the annual budget process by compiling information for the business unit to use in preparing budgets.

Assists in month end profit and loss review.

Analyzes and reconciles general ledger accounts to ensure proper classification and integrity of information.

Identifies potential impact of new departments, subsidiaries, products and other changes on job responsibilities

Resolves or recommends solutions to moderately complex problems.

Understands firms policies (related to financial items) with the ability to apply to them to day-to-day duties.

Contacts associates to discuss deviations from policy and determine proper course of action to correct.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QualificationsKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of

Intermediate accounting concepts, practices and procedures.

Accrual based accounting practices.

Accounting software packages.

Skill in

Preparing surveys.

Analyzing financial information.

Performing mathematical calculations.

Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.

Ability to

Assist in leading meetings and contribute to team efforts by ensuring all relevant information is included in the outcomes.

Identify, recommend and justify changes to standard procedures when required by specific situations and circumstances.

Work independently, make routine decisions and use resolve or recommend solutions to moderately complex accounting problems.

Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all organizational levels.

Organize, manage and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments with frequently changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.

Educational/Previous Experience RequirementsEducation/Previous Experience

Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in accounting or finance and up to two (2) years internal accounting experience.

OR

Any equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training approved by Human Resources.
