The Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Cleveland Clinic Florida, one of the largest and fastest growing CCF institutes is currently seeking highly skilled and qualified Critical Care or Pulmonary/ Critical Care Physicians to apply as the Director of Critical Care at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital located in beautiful Vero Beach, Florida.We welcome individuals seeking a director of critical care opportunity in a teaching institution. Eligible candidates will have the opportunity to work with a group of seven (7) pulmonary and critical care physicians and five (5) APPs. Highlights of the program include:

Key Responsibilities

Report: To the leadership within the Integrated Hospital Care Institute, and to the Hospital President, Hospital Chief Medical Officer, or their designee.

The Director of the ICU is a physician staff who provides clinical services at their primary hospital site.

The Director of the ICU is a physician staff with a career focus on critical care medicine and has strong interests in quality improvement and in ICU operations as future career goals.

The ICU Director will have the following responsibilities:

Oversee daily ICU workflow and ICU management.

In collaboration with staff intensivists, oversee the standardization of patient care, development and implementation of policy, procedures, protocols, and quality improvement measures in the ICU to align with the overall critical care department, institute, and institutional goals and targets. Work closely with ICU nurse manager and ICU Associate Director.

Responsible with the ICU nurse manager for the collection of outcomes data for ongoing initiatives such as prevention of hospital-acquired infection, application of ICU protocols, and reduction in ICU length of stay. Include ICU Associate Director when appropriate.

Responsible for ICU mortality reviews.

Responsible for coordinating and leading, or designating a physician from the ICU (e.g. ICU Associate Director) to participate in SERS events debriefs and RCAs when applicable.

Coordinate quality, patient, safety and experience within the ICU

Develop professional growth plans for physicians within the Critical Care units

Participate in meetings with hospital administration leadership that focus on ICU throughput and ICU quality metrics.

Participate in the meetings for Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and within the Integrated Hospital Care Institute.

Participate in the education and training of ICU nurses, respiratory therapists, APPs, and residents (where applicable), on ICU quality and educational initiatives.

Work closely with ICU Associate Director and provide supervision and mentorship on selected projects and initiatives.

Review the duty schedule of physicians and other medical personnel who work in the ICU. Coordinates with the RI Regional Director, when appropriate, and the Department Chair.

Collaborate with staff intensivists and hospital leadership to develop recommendations for products, supplies, and equipment for the ICU.

Optimize critical care physician procedures, and charges.

Ensures critical care physicians appropriate service documentation and billing compliance. Collaborate with critical care fellowship program directors (if applicable), residency program directors, critical care nursing educators, and other education leadership teams to provide desired education and training to ICU staff and promote recruitment within the Critical Care unit.

Fosters and coordinates research collaboration in Critical Care Medicine
