Basic Purpose Navy Federal Credit Union is seeking Cloud Platform Engineer to build and manage Kubernetes Cluster lifecycle Management Platform on Azure Cloud. Platform Engineer will support Operations and Management of Kubernetes/Container Platforms on Azure using AKS and/or Tanzu Application Service and Tanzu Kubernetes Grid (previously Pivotal Cloud Foundry and Pivotal Kubernetes Services). This role will be responsible for PaaS - a complete development and deployment environment in the cloud. Also, responsible in planning and scaling out the containerization platform for the expanding workload/applications in the Cloud. The role requires collaboration with cloud business partners, information security and architecture teams utilizing an agile delivery framework.

Responsibilities

• Design, create, configure, and manage Kubernetes Clusters for workloads onboarding to the Platform. (AKS & TKG)• Design, create, configure, and manage Tanzu Application Server• Perform Cloud platform upgrades and patching• Review and remediate Cloud platform vulnerabilities • Create and manage Cloud Platform pipelines • Engage with all the work related to Azure DevOps• Perform build-out and management of ingress controller• Setup dashboard using Grafana, Prometheus, and Azure• Follow agile methodology for product development and delivery• Perform cloud platform security configuration not limited to certificate management• Actively participate in Cloud Platform design and architecture discussions• Mentor and guide the development teams to package their products and deploy on the clusters based on their capacity, business, and utilization requirements.• Monitor system events to ensure health, maximum system availability and service quality.• Maintain documentation regarding configurations, operations and troubleshooting procedures.• Available to support the application teams on-call (24/7) and/or through escalation.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Applications, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, related field, or equivalent experience• Certifications like Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) or equivalent is a plus• Minimum 3+ years recent hands-on experience in managing Kubernetes Platforms on any Cloud- preferably Microsoft Azure (AKS)

• Knowledge of core java and spring framework (Spring MVC, Spring Batch, Spring Contract)• Knowledge of Test-Driven Development, CICD and DevOps• Strong knowledge of Micorosoft AZURE and Azure DevOps• Strong knowledge of Cloud Native technologies, principles and techniques such as PaaS, Kubernetes, microservices, 12 factor application development model• Clear understanding of Azure Blue-Green, canary deployment models, DR architecture and security buildpack developments• Deep understanding of Access Control and authentication using SAML, oAuth and directory-enablement concepts• Demonstrate skills using the tools used to manage the platforms like - Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Log Analytics, Azure Sentinel, Azure Monitor, Splunk and related.• Must champion cloud application adoption activities, development support of containerized applications and microservices• Fluency in any scripting languages like Python, YAML, Terraform, JSON, PowerShell, ARM Templates • Solid understanding of Azure Kubernetes Architecture or Tanzu Application Service (Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF)) / Open Source Cloud Foundry (CF), and BOSH• Understanding of engineering principles and deployment of software to Kubernetes Clusters or Tanzu Platform.• Understanding of Network Security tools such as CheckPoint Integration Suite interacting with Ingres Controller (Nginx) and/or PCF GoRouter (for internal PCF traffic)• Understanding of Repair, Repave & Rotate concepts including IPsec communication protocols within PCF and oAuth token refreshment• Understanding of Upgrade Management and Pipelines via Concourse: Creating and establishing CI/CD pipelines or integrating with existing CI/CD pipelines for deployment of Platform and related products• Experience with setting up monitoring, alerting and analytics of systems, platform and application performance and usage • Understanding of database (MySQL, Azure SQL etc) and messaging technologies (such as RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ)• Experience working with Forward and Reverse Proxies • Prior experience with software development or release automation is a plus• Dynamic presence and excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills• Effective organizational, planning and time management skills• Effective research, analytical, and problem-solving skills• Effective skill designing and deploying new, upgraded and/or existing systems• Effective skill in systems analysis, workflow, or procedural analysis• Effective skill troubleshooting and resolving technical problems• Development Experience• Working knowledge of credit union operations/processes and procedures• Working knowledge of Navy Federal Project Portfolio Management (PPM) knowledge

Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report on-site 4-16 days each month. Salary Range: $101,000 - $185,200 annually

Navy Federal Credit Union assesses market data to establish salary ranges that enable us to remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range, based on your experience, location and market position.
