Click the links below to see the many benefits and retirement options you have as a State of Florida employee. https://www.mybenefits.myflorida.com/ https://myfrs.com/ContactUs.htm Brief Description of Duties and Responsibilities: The Analytics Unit is responsible for using statistical theories, programming skills, and quantitative analysis to develop viewable output and user-based interfaces to assist in the function of OIR's business units. Its goal is to increase operational efficiencies, whether directly related to insurance regulation or the management of the agency as a whole, and improve the quality and usefulness of data received by the OIR. The Analytics Unit members consult with other business units to determine functional needs and exercise discretion and judgment in determining the appropriate solutions and method of implementation.

Use economic theory and other quantitative techniques to gather insurance and other relevant data. Perform high-level analysis of data to, and develop solutions or alternative methods of, achieving the Office’s regulatory goals. Use independent judgement to make functional decisions on tool development that impacts unit-level operations across business units. This requires the use of experience, judgement, and the application of knowledge and education; specifically, that of economics (or similar disciplines) which is a requirement for the position.

Design and recommend changes to ensure successful functioning of newly implemented systems and/or procedures. Manage and monitor implementation by business unit team members which entails significant oversight responsibility.

Review programs, services, reports, and confer with senior management and users to identify problems; compiles data for legislative budget requests and long-range program plans; and prepare manuals and train staff in the use of applications and procedures per policy.

Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis.

Knowledge of basic management principles and practices.

Knowledge of basic computer skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Knowledge of one of the following programming languages: SQL, SAS, C, Java, R, or Python.

Ability to independently apply knowledge of a programming language in the generation of tools, reports, and projects designed to improve the function of the business unit.

Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document work flow, and other activities relating to the improvement of work flow practices.

Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials.

Ability to conduct fact-finding research.

Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.

Ability to communicate effectively.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

The appointment salary is $51,320.28
