What you will do: The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) is the state of Florida’s social services agency. The agency oversees services for child safety, fostering, adoption, domestic violence, adult protective services, refugees, homelessness, mental health, substance abuse, childcare providers, human trafficking and public assistance. The agency’s mission is to work in partnership with local communities to protect the vulnerable, promote strong and economically self-sufficient families, and advance personal and family recovery and resiliency. This is a highly responsible and professional position that will serve as the Deputy Assistant Secretary within the Office of Administration. The Office of Administration is responsible for the management and oversight of several key Department functions: 1) Budget, 2) Revenue, 3) Finance, 4) Financial Accountability, 5) Human Resources, 6) Contracted Client Services, and 7) General Services. The Deputy position will primarily focus on three of the seven key functions of administration: 1) Human Resources, 2) Contracted Client Services, and 3) General Services. In addition, this position will oversee enterprise activities that cross all seven functions that require coordination, communication and at times process solution analysis. Even though the positions primary focus will be on three of the seven functions the position will play a support role to the remaining functions. How you will make an impact :

Support the Department’s programs through the use of a customer-based office model.

Ensure administrative services are provided timely, accurately, and efficiently, and that they prevent barriers.

Create performance management systems that are driven from process analysis, outcome and output measures, policy and operational implementation and compliance, training, workforce distribution analysis and overall quality improvements.

Provide leadership analysis to support the development and implementation of special projects that are consistent with the direction of the Governor, the Legislature and the Secretary of the Department, and Assistant Secretary of Administration.

Prepare reports, briefing sessions, trainings, and external data requests.

Qualifications:

At least 10 years of experience serving in an administrative field, primarily in Human Resources, Contracted Client Services and General Services.

Five years of management experience.

Experience preparing reports, briefing sessions, trainings, and external data requests.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.

Ability to travel overnight to conduct official business.

Administration and Management:

Knowledge of principles and processes involved in business and organizational planning, coordination, and execution. This may include strategic planning, resource allocation, manpower modeling, leadership techniques, and production methods.

Project Management:

Ability to work a project from beginning to end that results in some form of implementation.
