Selected candidates will be part of our growing team that is developing water and wastewater infrastructure solutions across North America. Design-Build Managers at Kiewit are an integral part of our overall project management teams with direct access to Engineering and Construction leaders across the organization and an ability to impact all facets of Design-Build projects. Assignments range from support of proposals and estimates to execution of projects.At Kiewit, Design-Build Managers have primary responsibility for design phase success including the oversight of in-house and/or external Engineers, the coordination/integration of Engineering and Construction, and the completion of on budget/on schedule jobs. The Design-Build Manager will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships within/across several Kiewit Operating Districts, consulting Engineering firms, and our many clients. We are a high performing team of engineers and designers that leads the water engineering process and collaborates with Kiewit’s construction teams to approach construction-driven engineering with a focus on safe, cost effective, and innovative designs that achieve client expectations and further Kiewit’s legacy of excellence.LocationThis position will be located strategically among our client base or in one of our hub offices in Fairfield, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Dallas, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Lenexa, KS; Atlanta, GA; or Miami, FL. Travel in the U.S. (10-50%).Responsibilities   Overall management of the internal and external project design team(s)

Has a detailed understanding of all contractual obligations for the project to ensure that design and permitting requirements of the contract are met

Facilitates effective communication between design and construction project leadership

Plans and coordinates the activities of the design-build process with all stakeholders

Communicates project design and performance status with Clients and permitting agencies

Resolves conflicts that arise through partnering with designers, clients, and construction

Supports construction priorities and ensures their implementation through the design

Promotes design-build best practices, including constructability reviews, schedule compliance and quantity management

Monitors and tracks the design schedule and design budget

Connects appropriate Kiewit Engineering resources to projects

Manages and interprets data and results for multiple projects

Responsible for the design fee estimate and administering the Engineering Contracts for assigned project(s)

Identifies current and future risks along with mitigation strategies

Consolidates best practices from project execution

QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Engineering or related engineering degree

10+ years’ experience in the water market

5+ years’ experience managing an internal or external multi-disciplinary engineering and design team

5+ years' experience on collaborative delivery projects (fixed price design build, progressive design build, engineer/procure/construct, construction manager/general contractor, etc.)

Prefer candidates with P.E.; though not required

Detailed understanding of the relationships between engineering (including between engineering disciplines), procurement, construction, start up, and commissioning

An understanding of the engineering/construction estimating, accounting, and reporting

Strong organizational and time management skills

Strong written and verbal communications skills

Attention to detail, with the ability to recognize trends, patterns, and discrepancies

Strong work ethic and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
