POSITION SUMMARYProvides strategic and operational support to the ITI (Information Technology Infrastructure) Enterprise Desktop Support team. The Desktop Engineering architect is responsible for the architecture, engineering, and support of the desktop engineering infrastructure. This includes designing the architecture, implementing the solution, providing support documentation, and training of co-workers to ensure proper support. The ideal candidate will have the experience and ability to be a technical lead for multiple simultaneous projects. The candidate should possess a passion for operational excellence and possess excellent interpersonal and soft skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Responsible for architecting solutions necessary to complete desktop engineering projects, initiatives, etc.
  • Responsible for working with vendors, executives, and project managers to ensure proper completion of Rooms To Go Projects, Initiatives, and Proof of Concepts.
  • Responsible for integrating desktop engineering solutions with RTG cloud infrastructure
  • Responsible for the engineering (design, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement) of the desktop environment including system management tools.
  • Identify departmental needs and make suggestions regarding technical direction.
  • Produce and maintain desktop hardware and software roadmaps.
  • Develop and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower human intervention time on any tasks.
  • Lead technical resource for Desktop Engineering related projects and activities.
  • Represent the interests of our customers by providing 3rd level support and appropriate escalation to other IT functions when issues cannot be resolved by the Desktop team.
  • Develop and publish technical documentation to ensure appropriate knowledge transfer for desktop support and help desk staff.
  • Documentation and tracking of requests and incidents via an ITSM tool.
  • Managing and monitoring of service levels with internal customers and vendors.
  • Takes personal responsibility for words and actions.
  • Maintains consistency between words and actions.
  • Acts in compliance with department, company, and industry standards.

QUALIFICATIONSA combination of the experience, education, and training listed below which provides an equivalent background to perform the work of this position.

EXPERIENCE
  • 8 years or more of relevant professional work experience in supporting an enterprise IT environment.
  • 5 or more years of providing executive level support.
  • 5 or more years of engineering and implementation of IT infrastructure systems.
  • 3 or more years of architecting high level solutions associated with desktop engineering solutions
  • Participation in projects as a technical lead or engineer.
  • Candidates need to have verifiable expertise with:
  • Technical experience and understanding of desktop management tools
  • Administering Active Directory including Group Policies
  • Knowledge of current OS X versions and functionality
  • Detailed knowledge of current Microsoft operating systems
  • Working with service levels
  • Candidates should be familiar with:
  • ITIL fundamentals
  • Project management fundamentals
  • Networking
  • Working as a member of a large enterprise IT team
  • Mentoring others

EDUCATION AND TRAINING
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information systems or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Formal training regarding and/or advanced knowledge of Microsoft System Center and scripting tools.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required.
  • Employee will be responsible for critical infrastructure and will be required to be accessible via cell phone outside of normal business hours.
