The architecture team is looking for a self-motivated team member who will interact with application teams to provide software architecture, design, and operations expertise, leveraging your deep knowledge of and experience in Apache Kafka, the Confluent platform, and other systems such as Flink, Spark, Storm, relational and NoSQL databases. You will develop and advocate best practices, gather, and validate feedback and assist application and engineering teams. Job Responsibilities
  • Leading the development of an architecture strategy to enable event-based and data streaming solutions
  • Directly engage with other Architects and developers to assist with building event-based and data streaming solutions
  • Conducting workshops, tech sessions, and advocacy to the developer community
  • Authoring documentation, including reference architecture, best practices, and design patterns
  • Supporting the Kafka engineering team by collaborating on defining cluster design, high availability, operational best practices, and use of different features from the Kafka platform
  • Must have a bachelors degree in computer science, or an analytical discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Must have 8 years of recent experience leading the analysis of complex business problems and translating business requirements into technology solutions that factor in system performance, usability, quality, cross-system interdependencies, scalability, and total cost of ownership,
  • Must have 8 years of recent experience leading the design of enterprise class solutions and solution frameworks
  • Minimum of 4 years designing, building, and operating in-production Big Data, stream processing, and/or enterprise data integration solutions, ideally using Apache Kafka
  • Minimum of 4 years using cloud providers (Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure) for running high-throughput systems
  • Experience operating Linux (configure, tune, and troubleshoot both RedHat and Debian-based distributions)
  • Experience with Java Virtual Machine (JVM) tuning and troubleshooting
  • Experience with distributed systems (Kafka, Hadoop, Cassandra, etc.),
  • Experience with releational database systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostGres, MySQL
  • Experience with NoSQL systems such as Cassandra, MongoDB, Cosmos, DocumentDB
  • Proficiency in Java, .NET, KSQL, KStreams
  • Strong desire to tackle complex technical problems and proven ability to do so with little or no direct daily supervision
  • Must have strong technical acumen with the ability to comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies quickly
  • Must have excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Must have strong leadership and interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication, teamwork, facilitation, consultation, and negotiation
  • Experience with solutions such as Pulsar, Flink, or other data technologies
  • Experience with NewSQL solutions such as CoackroachDB, Couchbase, Spanner, Yugabyte
  • Experience with Scala, Python, or Go
  • Confluent Certifications
