Job Title: Engineering Technician

Location: Deerfield Beach, FL

Employment Term: Contract – 6 Months with possible extension

Industry: Radio and Broadcasting

Pay Rate: Negotiable – depends on experience

Overview:The Engineering Technician will assist the engineering team in sourcing, assembling, evaluating, testing, and repairing advanced prototype and production electronic circuits, equipment, and systems. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can work both independently and within a team environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Support prototype design assignments under general supervision of engineers. Support R&D testing activities including root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and verification and validation. Support QA, Manufacturing, Marketing and Product Management with technical information as directed by engineering.
  • Solder and de-solder PCB components per IPC J-STD-001.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications, including PCB schematics.
  • Assist engineers with the creation, modification, review, and fabrication of prototype PCB assemblies, including all associated components that comprise the complete bill of materials.
  • Tasks include, parts look up, part ordering, part tracking, and modifications of prototype PCB assemblies through design and integration.
  • Inspect, repair, and construct electromechanical systems. The engineering technician does not necessarily design electromechanical systems but will identify potential problems in the design.
  • Report progress and status of assignments on a timely basis with emphasis on reporting results to supervisor as appropriate.

Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience as an engineering technician or technician in a lab or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and re-work electrical circuit board assemblies and systems.
  • Must have manual dexterity and the ability to solder and use various epoxies/adhesives.
  • BGA rework experience is highly desired.
  • Experience operating hand and power tools. General familiarity with shop tools such as drill press, table saw, band saw, etc.
  • Experience in accelerated life testing (ALT) of consumer products is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Willingness to take initiative and to follow through on projects.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
