Enterprise Data Architect - Improving the consistency, timeliness, quality, security and delivery of data. In addition, the EDA must streamline data flows and remove unnecessary costs from the complex, fragmented, heterogeneous data architecture that is found across our authoritative sources and data subscribers. The EDA will be a key member of the Firm s business intelligence program, and will focus on the modeling, capture, storage, and utilization of data critical to that program. The position also requires an understanding of emerging regulatory issues surrounding information assets. The EDA s responsibilities also include implementation of technical platforms that support the function, such as MDM and data integration tools. Duties and Accountabilities Primary Duties: Work with business leaders to identify high value opportunities to improve the Firm s data in support of key business objectives. Extend the Firm s enterprise data repository to include sources not previously recorded. Extend the metadata available for existing Terms to include data quality, currency, and other relevant attributes. Create and maintain a semantic layer for managed data sourced from within and from outside of the Firm. Perform Data Architectural reviews of projects introducing new applications or changing existing applications in order to identify and capture newly required or newly available information. Advise on the correct usage of existing data sources and prevent data fragmentation. Document interfaces and data movement proposals to help perform Alternative Analyses, and record actual implementations in the Firm s Enterprise Architecture Repository. Evaluate and recommend improvements in the movement of data throughout the Firm. Define integrative views of data that simplify meeting quality of service requirements such as data currency, availability, and response times. Define data architecture standards and guidelines should cover when and how to use the architected databases (e.g., warehouse and operational data store), the technologies to be used for various purposes (e.g., when to use extraction, transformation and loading tools, or an integration broker), and models of selected entities, objects and processes. Configure and manage supporting MDM and data integration platforms. Publish the data architecture to interested parties as documents, portals, or by direct access to the Enterprise Architecture Repository. Communicate the benefits of EDA to key users, stakeholders, and decision makers. Additional Responsibilities: Maintain an attitude and behavior in keeping with our Guiding Principles. Utilization of Service Manager ticketing system for incident assignment, resolution, and management is mandatory. Record and assign personal time on a daily basis to using the firm s time recording system (DTE-Axiom). To participate on global/regional/office project and/or virtual teams as request by management. To participate in meetings related to the activities of the department or related projects, when requested. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by reviewing related professional publications. Stay in tune with the Firm s growing projects for practical experience. Professional and comfortable interaction with all levels of staff. Maintain a professional demeanor at all times. Overtime may be required and should be expected to meet deadlines. Advance notice will be given whenever possible. Remain flexible with shift hours and lunchtime based upon the needs of the group. Uphold firm, departmental and team rules and procedures. Contribute to team effort through communication, cooperation and coordination with other team members. Regular, predictable attendance is required with the mandatory utilization of the firm s attendance system (where in use). Ability to work within a Global environment taking into account time zones and cultural diversity Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by management. Qualifications 7 10 years of experience in IT, with a minimum of 2 years in information systems design. Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience. In-depth experience designing and implementing information solutions. Knowledgeable in the design and construction of data architectures that enable well-integrated transactional, collaborative and analytical systems. Data/information modeling expertise at the enterprise level. Understanding of differences between relational modeling and object modeling. Understanding of taxonomies and ontologies. Understanding of metamodels and semantic layers. Knowledge of problem analysis, structured analysis, and design and programming techniques. Experience with leading Data Architecture, MDM, and Integration tools (such as talend, Informatic, or similar). Ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence. Strong analytical and conceptual skills. Experience with various information modeling techniques (such as data flow diagrams, entity-relationship diagrams or create/read/update/delete matrices). Familiarity with business intelligence and data warehousing development techniques. High-level understanding of relational database management systems and other data structures.
