Job DescriptionThe Maintenance Assistant / Sanitation Team Member will work with the Maintenance Team to maintain all facility areas to ensure a clean and safe work environment for both Team Members and guests. This position will perform various daily/weekly cleaning tasks, minor repairs, and projects.Responsibilities
Perform general maintenance tasks, preventive maintenance tasks, and basic facility maintenance
Practice safe use of tools and equipment required by position.
Perform duties on the daily and weekly Sanitation and Maintenance lists and adhere to cleaning and maintenance schedules.
Use appropriate protective equipment.
Keep department supplies filled and maintained.
Keep all supply shelves clean and stocked.
Practice safe use of tools and equipment required by position.
Practice proper care and maintenance of equipment.
Know and practice proper lifting techniques.
Report safety violations and hazards immediately to leadership.
Participate in ordering supplies needed for store maintenance.
Help with any cleaning emergencies that occur in the facility.
Comply with all state and federal health and safety codes.
Follow established hazardous material safety procedures.
Coordinate outside contractors, as needed, to perform needed repairs.
Maintain inventory of basic parts.
Responsible for upkeep of basic painting and building maintenance.
Inspect and diagnose problems and determine the best way to correct them, frequently checking blueprints, repair manuals and parts catalogs.
Use common hand and power tools such as screwdrivers, saws, drills, wrenches and hammers as well as specialized equipment and electronic testing devices.
General maintenance, perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
Follow checklists, including inspection of drives, motors and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters and perform other maintenance functions.
Communicate and maintain safety and security standards and follow all GMP guidelines
Attend Safety committee meetings.
Consistently communicate, uphold and embody Whole Foods Market's standards, vision and Philosophy.
Establish and maintain positive and productive vendor relationships
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge and experience performing basic maintenance
Ability to use common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches.
Able to use a scissor lift
Able to climb ladders
Ability to help the maintenance team take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts.
Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
Experience with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices
Knowledge of state and federal safety codes
Able to operate all necessary equipment and perform all physical requirements of the job
Safe and tidy work habits
Able to communicate effectively
Strong time management skills.
Team-player with a positive attitude
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Able to work well with others, self-motivated, and capable of working independently with little supervision
Some working knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical and mechanical
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, on-line ordering and troubleshooting through vendor websites
Must be 18 years of age or older
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand or walk at least 8 hours, and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend and reach with or without reasonable accommodation
Must be able to lift 50 lbs., occasionally lift up to 70 lbs. (team lift suggested for weights in excess of 70 lbs.)
Work in a bakery manufacturing facility environment. (Temperatures ranging from -10 (freezer) to 100 degrees (oven)
Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters
Availability Requirements:
Average shifts are 8 hours long
Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
Ability to work a rotating schedule.
Team Members receive their schedule up to 3 weeks in advance
