Senior member of Buildings + Design Engineering. Technical resource for Owner's Representative, Center for Design, Facility Managers, Real Estate and End Users. Fluent in all engineering disciplines. Capable of performing facilities assessments, developing conceptual designs for systems in primary engineering discipline and leading development construction documents for small, non-complex projects (including stamping drawings). Serves as a mentor to Facilities Engineer I and II.Responsibilities:Directs project Infrastructure Engineering teams to insure high quality standards and customer satisfaction, specifically, Mechanical, Electrical and Fire & Life Safety Engineering.

Supports the organization as an engineer in area of expertise.

Mentors Facilities Engineer I and II.

Provides multi-discipline engineering consultation to internal and external stakeholders with regard to facility repair projects and new construction projects to support the Cleveland Clinic enterprise at all stages of design and construction. Stakeholders include, but are not limited to: Internal Architects and Space planners, Owners Representatives, Facility managers, End users, and Third party consultants.

Performs engineering consultation and troubleshooting for existing buildings and systems including recommending repairs and improvements and development of conceptual designs of that work.

Leads engineering studies and assessments.

Prepares reports and delivers presentations.

Evaluates planned facility acquisitions for infrastructure operation and maintenance issues.

Provides engineering support in the disposal of buildings and systems.

Develops and demonstrates compliance with project budgets including project development labor, construction estimates and operational costs.

May serve as overall project manager and engineer of record for the design of small renovations, including production of stamped engineering drawings and specification for discipline of licensure and general supervision of development of drawings by registered engineers in other disciplines.

Assists in selection of third-party design consultants.

Performs reviews of third-party design documents to ensure adherence to project scope and Cleveland Clinic engineering standards.

Assists in resolving issues during construction. Ensuring codes, plans and standards are followed.

Keeps abreast of new technologies.

Maintains knowledge of applicable statutory, regulatory and administrative requirements and ensures departmental compliance.

Leads other projects and initiatives within the work group as assigned by the Director of Engineering.

Education:Bachelor's degree in Engineering from ABET Accredited Institution required.

Certifications:Professional Engineer (PE) through Florida State Board of Engineers required. If registered in another state, registration in the state of Florida Board of Engineers required within six months of commencement of employment.

Ability to gain licensure in the state of Florida preferred.

Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC) certification through the American Hospital Association preferred.

Successful completion of the 8-hour Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) training required within six months of hire.

Complexity of Work:Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Must be able to work in a matrixed organization, give, and receive appropriate direction across disciplines, fields of responsibility and organizational levels.

Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience:A minimum of 10 years design and/or operation experience with industrial, commercial, or institutional facilities.

A minimum of 3 years of Health Care design and/or operations experience or Project Management experience including coordinating maintenance, renovation and construction projects preferred.

Prior experience with medical gas requirements, ASHRAE standards and health care fire and life safety codes and regulations preferred.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.

AutoCAD and Revit proficient.

Microsoft office proficient, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Physical Requirements:Typical physical demands include a high degree of dexterity to produce materials on a PC, normal and corrected vision, extensive sitting and frequent walking, occasionally lifting or carrying 5 to 15 pounds.

Ability to walk for extended periods of time to perform site inspections of construction and renovation projects.

Personal Protective Equipment:As required when in appropriate locations or on construction sites.
