Basic QualificationsBachelor's degree in computer science, information technology/related discipline is required plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree or equivalent experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:Department of Defense

SECRET security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this PositionGeneral Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Fleet Database Administrator located at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

• Plans, designs, implements, monitors, maintains, troubleshoots, and optimize databases, database systems & services• Interacts with other DBAs to recommend and enforce database standards, ensure compliance, and the security of the database environments• As required the role collaborates with vendors and third parties to ensure the current & future operational requirements are met• Supports & troubleshoots the operation of database systems including patching, event monitoring, incident mgmt., backup & recovery, and other forms of remedial & preventative maintenance• Plans for simple database functional capabilities including: database vendor, product, & version; storage; hardware; structure; performance; security; availability; and disaster recovery • Implements & test database simple designs• Optimizes and tunes database performance utilizing monitoring tools, query tuning techniques, database and operating system parameter adjustments, hardware recommendations, and other operational enhancements

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Oracle

• Pay attention to detail • Evidence of ability to follow general instruction on moderate tasks using a developing professional understanding of the database administration discipline• Exhibits rudimentary knowledge on database technologies, operating systems, best practices, and industry trends including database design, configuration, tuning, and support• Considerable knowledge of SQL and SQL query tuning techniques• History of providing task oriented work direction to others• Demonstrates personally accountable behavior and shows initiative and enthusiasm on assignments• Clear & concise oral & written communication skills• Considerable experience developing solutions to a variety of problems of narrow scope, using established procedures• A history that demonstrates a willingness to change ideas or perceptions based on new information or direction

Target salary range: USD $74,400.00/Yr. - USD $80,500.00/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary.
