If you accept a position at this hotel you will be employed by a franchisee and not by Marriott International.JOB SUMMARYScope of PositionThe Golf Course Assistant Superintendent directs and participates in the maintenance of the golf course. The Assistant Superintendent supervises the maintenance and repair of the golf course, motorized and other mechanical equipment. He/she also assists the Superintendent in supervising the associates and their daily tasks.Job Responsibilities
Assists in planning, laying out and supervising the maintenance of greens, tees, and fairways.
Reviews staffing levels to ensure that operational needs are met.
Supervise the daily operations of the maintenance crew.
Works with the Superintendent and other associates to constantly improve the golf course, club grounds, and maintenance facility.
Supervises pesticide application and/or operates and calibrates pesticide application equipment.
Plan, schedule, and monitor all daily operations including insuring adequate staffing.
Performs tasks that are necessary to keep maintenance facility and equipment clean, organized, and safe daily.
Assists the Superintendent with record keeping for supplies, daily logs, application records, and weather condition records.
Assist in establishing, promoting, and enforcing safety practices in accordance with hotel, local, state, and federal regulations.
Adhere to safety and OSHA Standard and observe safety requirements as required.
Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and hiring associates; conduct performance appraisals, coach, and counsel, perform progressive corrective action, motivate, develop, and train.
Maintain consistent and effective flow of communication between shifts among fellow managers and Associates.
Performs other duties as directed by management.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 3 years of progressive management experience in a golf resort, golf course, preferred.
Great leadership and communication skills.
Knowledge of the maintenance of golf course tees, fairways, greens; seeding.
Knowledge of maintenance practices for golf course turf, planting cultivating, pruning, and caring for plants, shrubs, and trees.
Knowledge of proper use of fertilizers and knowledge of soil conditions, herbicide and pest control, drainage methods and irrigation systems.
Golf Course Superintendents Association of America membership preferred.
Must be able to handle a multitude of tasks in an ever-changing environment.
Skills and Abilities
Ability to communicate in the English language. Second language is a plus.
Ability to work flexible schedules including holidays and weekends and able to perform multiple tasks.
Experience using software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
Knowledge of proper chemical handling, cleaning techniques and use of equipment/machinery.
