Interior Design Assistant

Passion for Interior Design is what our small, well established design firm is all about. Specializing in mid to high end residential Interior Design, with over 35 years of experience throughout South Florida, and nationally.

We are looking for an artful Interior design assistant, who is self-motivated, assertive and able to work independently. Must have incredible work ethic, with strong organizational skills, an extreme attention to detail and ability to multi-task. Friendly with an easy demeanor and confidence to communicate design ideas articulately.

This is a flexible position, part-time or full-time, or possible contract work. If contract, must be committed to an allotment of hours per week. Compensation based on experience and skill.

Responsibilities

Passion for design, and creativity is a must.

Work directly with owner and senior designer.

Must be comfortable with, and have excellent communication skills to communicate and follow up with all vendors, clients and contractors.

Understanding of the design and construction processes, with ability to read and interpret construction documents.

Undertake design project from concept to completion, with minimal direction.

Set costs and project fees according to budget

Research and decide on materials, fabrics, cabinetry, finishes, flooring and products sourcing, while staying current with industry changes, evolutions and best practices.

Maintain design documents, purchase orders, samples, project books, etc.

Job site visits, and observe work progress

Must have own car and cell phone.

Skills

Must have a minimum of 5 years in-field design experience, with a refined taste level.

Must be nice

Proven working experience in decorating interior spaces (consultations, renovations, space planning and new constructions)

Capable of organizing client presentations, with proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, QuickBooks, SketchUp and Auto CAD. Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator is a plus.

English a must, Spanish helpful.

Creative talent, imagination and eye for design.

Communication and presentation skills.

Project management skills a plus.
