Software Engineer II

Location: Jacksonville, FL (Hybrid)

Type: 6-Month Contract to Hire

Brooksource is looking for a Software Engineer II to join a leading grocery retailer as a part of the POS and Pharmacy Systems team. This individual will be responsible for using their knowledge of programming languages to develop, configure, integrate, deploy, and maintain software solutions. This role provides the opportunity to work with both in house and out of the box software solutions, and will allow the right candidate to grow and further develop their expertise in software development

Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with other software engineers and IT professionals to create, troubleshoot and revamp software systems.
  • Update end-user software and produce efficient code based on requirements.
  • Design algorithms and flowcharts to create new software programs & systems.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, maintain and improve software performance as well as support any required application upgrades.
  • Lab testing to compile and assess user feedback. Provide recommendations for improvements on new and existing software products.
  • Support Unit Testing of code and configuration.
  • Support QA Testing of software, as needed.
  • Collaborate with business analysts and customers to understand end-user requirements and specifications and be able to accurately document process flows.

Core Technical Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of Python
  • Proficiency in .NET framework
  • Strong knowledge of C# and other Object-Oriented Programming languages
  • Experience working with Microservices
  • Knowledge of Object-Relational Mapping frameworks
  • Ability to read/translate T-LOG strings generated by POS
  • Excellent understanding of the software development life cycle
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum development methodologies
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently or as part of a team

Additional Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 2+ years of enterprise level software engineering experience
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently or as part of a team
  • Knowledge of Azure Dev/Ops is a plus
  • Knowledge of Pharmacy practices/processes is a plus
  • Knowledge of Point-of-Sale processes is a plus
