Description Legal Assistants support lawyers directly, and may be required to supervise other legal staff such as legal secretaries or file clerks.Legal Assistants should have computer and technical knowledge as well as strong analytical, communication and organizational skills.Some law firms prefer three to five years of legal experience in a law firm or other corporate legal department.What you get to do every day
Search and retrieve electronic documents from a variety of court and agency web sites
Efficiently deal with matter management and record keeping
Stay proactive on legal research and investigative tasks, including obtaining information or documents from outside parties, as directed
Organize documents for photo copier and scanner
Combine documents and assemble data as directed by lawyers and paralegals
Meet word processing, filing and faxing duties
Create correspondence and memorandum
Take care of computer database input and retrieval
Deposit e-files and documents into the proper folders
Quality check copies against originals and confirm copies Requirements
Comprehensive knowledge of Probate & Estate Administration
Draft Documents experience highly desired
Expertise in Trusts and Estates
Foundational knowledge in e-Filing
Proven knowledge of Schedule Appointments
Well-founded grasp of Schedule Depositions
Strong familiarity with e-file
Investigating the factual evidence of a transaction or case and preparing exhibits, charts and diagrams to display information
Experience assisting lawyers in preparing for transactional closings, depositions, hearings, trials and conferences; completing many administrative tasks, including, working on individual cases or transactions
Conducting routine discovery
3+ years of previous legal work experience and a dedication to integrity
Organizing and tracking files for important transactions or case documents, including pleadings and voluminous discovery documents; creating and maintaining a case-management database
Drafting legal court documents, such as pleadings, motions, affidavits and subpoenas; transactional documents, such as trusts, wills, contracts and real estate leases; and closing documents
