Description: Lockheed Martin is seeking a Manufacturing Automation Engineer Intern to support the Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) team at Missiles and Fire Control in Orlando FL. Candidate will be responsible for supporting and participating in the design, test, modification, fabrication, and assembly of manufacturing tools and electromechanical systems that includes automated components such as collaborative/industrial robots, vision systems, and programmable controllers. In this role, the candidate will work with AMT automation engineers to understand requirements and manufacturing processes for which automation solutions can be developed and deployed. In these projects, the candidate will leverage mechanical design skills in 3D modeling and additive manufacturing to validate design concepts.Basic Qualifications: Junior or Senior year in pursuit of a technical degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing/robotics engineering, or related discipline in the field of manufacturing automation. Ability to utilize 3D CAD tools such as CREO, SolidWorks or AutoCAD for mechanical/tooling design. Experience using 3D printers. Basic understanding of automated systems – robots, sensors, and controllers. Ability to assemble and/or fabricate mechanical structures using basic manual tools (e.g., drills, plyers, screw drivers, etc.)Desired Skills: Practical experience/training working with robotics and automated systems is strongly desired. Experience with mechanical tooling and fixture design, using 3D CAD tools such as CREO or SolidWorks. Practical experience utilizing additive manufacturing techniques (3D Printed parts) to demonstrate design feasibility. Programming Experience and Debugging Skills – Python, C, C#, or similar programming language. Experience building electro-mechanical systems or devices used in automation applications. Outstanding work ethic, excellent teaming skills, and ability to multi-task with multiple projects and job tasks. Effective written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with management, customers and peers. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
