Location: Merritt Island, FL Description: Our client is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Level III in Merritt Island, FL.
This is an exciting opportunity with major aerospace firm on the Space Coast and is overtime eligible!- You must = or national, U.S. permanent resident (current holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
- This position may require the candidate to support any shift including A, B, C or D shifts.
- Translate engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into fully functional hardware.
- Define how to prepare hardware for test, qualification, and flight. Identify, develop, and deploy new manufacturing methods (or refine existing) to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize build schedule.
- Develop process control measures and evaluation through statistical analysis.
- Define and support repair and rework activities.
- Design, procure, install, and integrate custom manufacturing equipment. Interface with external suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure that hardware and equipment is manufactured, processed, packaged, and delivered properly, on time, and on budget.
- Design proper material handling and packaging to protect hardware throughout the build and test process.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited university (Master of Science preferred).
- Professional engineering license preferred.
- 5+ years direct manufacturing and manufacturing engineering experience.
- 8+ years of demonstrated resourcefulness and execution within complex, rapidly changing manufacturing environments.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong task ownership, someone who demonstrates pride in all work and willingness to perform low-level tasks when needed.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with ERP systems, work order creation/management, and BOM structures.
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing including working knowledge of GD&T.
- Hands on experience in hardware manufacturing (i.e., castings, forgings, additively manufactured components, welding, machining, cleaning, non-destructive testing methods, tight tolerance assembly, leak testing, final acceptance testing of integrated hardware, and Manufacturing Execution Systems/Software).
- Proven experience and successful track record of completing manufacturing projects.
- Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Scheduling, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
- Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to develop processes compliant to industry quality systems such as AS9100.
- Manage hardware configuration and maintain pedigree throughout the entire build and test process.
- Closely manage quality, build sequence, and schedule of hardware throughout the entire manufacturing process.
- Perform engineering drawing review and provide final approval for manufacturing.
- Develop manufacturing work instructions to clearly define the following manufacturing process: fabrication, assembly, test, integration, and refurbishment.
- Advanced degree, certification, and/or training in a directly related field.
- Aerospace/Launch vehicle experience.
- A continuous improvement mindset.
- Broad experience in hardware manufacturing: welding, assembly, integration, instrumentation, cleaning, non-destructive testing, leak testing, final acceptance testing of integrated hardware, fabrication, machining, etc.
