Our Values – Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Responsiveness, Excellence (ICARE) This position serves as the Medical Director for FDOH-SJC and is responsible for the medical component of the public health programs provided at FDOH-SJC. Provides medical direction to the Health Officer and all professional health care staff involved in the provision of public health services. Provides comprehensive health services to children and adults for, including but not limited to, family planning, sexually transmitted infections, and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis. Responsibilities include but are not limited to performing physical examination, making diagnosis, developing, and ordering treatments, medications, laboratory and radiological tests, multiple forms of contraceptive therapy (including IUDs, Nexplanon) and making referrals for specialty and emergency care as needed. In coordination with the Director of Nursing, develops, signs, and maintains current medical protocols and standard operating procedures for clinical staff. Assists with training as needed to clinical staff, to ensure all protocols and procedures are followed. Actively participates in performance improvement efforts and reviews patient records to assure quality health care provision and accurate documentation. Ensures documentation meets State and Local standards as applicable. Coordinates patient care activities and follow-up with involved staff to ensure continuity of care for all clients. Works in various programmatic areas within scope of agency policies and protocols, State and Federal guidelines and federal, state and local programmatic requirements. Provides consultation to all professional health care staff involved in the provision of public health services. In coordination with the Nursing Director and the Nurse Supervisor, coordinates the efficient and effective provision of clinical services by monitoring clinic processes to optimize efficiency. Works with all staff to ensure maximum productivity and efficient operations in all clinics. Identifies issues and works with staff to propose, develop and implement solutions. Works to promote and expand the number of clinical services provided in within FDOH-SJC. Serves as the Vaccine for Children (VFC) Enrollee of records, Laboratory Director, and HIPAA Reviewing Officer. Ensures that VFC programmatic requirements are met, as well as all applicable CLIA standards. Serves as Medical Director of all Special Needs Shelters in St. Johns County. Perform other duties as required. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Qualifications:
Licensure/registration/certification requirements (If applicable, list the appropriate Florida Statute or federal regulation cite): Licensure as a physician in accordance with Chapter 458 or 459 Florida Statutes, DEA Licensure, current CPR/BLS certified or able to secure within six months of employment.
