RESPONSIBILITIES:Kforce has a client in Miami, FL that is seeking a Network Engineer. This is complex, specialized work providing technical systems expertise and systems maintenance support to the firms communications network and systems. Work involves testing and diagnosing system problems and failures to determine causes of failure and recommending appropriate solutions.The Network Engineer will usually work independently under the general supervision of a higher-level technical position.
Essential Functions: Develops detailed specifications for the development or acquisition of complex systems including: requirements analyses, cost benefit analyses, project planning, flow charts and work flow process diagrams and documentation Designs LAN/Communications network topology; installs, maintains and repairs local area networks and data systems, including physical and data-link layer Designs, acquires, configures, and supports communication systems/network such as: P25 Radio System, email, telephony, VoIP, etc. Researches alternative methods of problem solution, and acts as technical advisor in developing functional requirements for new or improved information systems, prepares a business-case documentation for proposed systems Conducts research in automation techniques, which may significantly extend pre-existing systems capabilities Maintains the integrity, performance and availability of the city's communications network Uses test equipment, diagnostic devices and software to analyze the nature and extent of system problems, contacts vendors to replace defective component parts as required Exchanges components and peripheral parts to analyze the nature and extent of system problems; Performs acceptance testing on new or replacement units, components or parts for systems and peripheral equipment Administers core systems and applications: P25, Exchange, O365, Active Directory, SCCM, VMWARE, Hyper-V, Data-File, HA Clusters, etc.REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Sciences, Information Systems Engineering, Engineering Technology or a closely related field Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in complex network operations in medium to large sized environment, which must have included installation, capacity, planning, optimization, troubleshooting, and management of the infrastructure environment One (1) year of related supervisory experience A Valid Driver's License from any state (Equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be utilized upon application, however prior to appointment a State of Florida Driver's License (Class E or higher) must be presented to the Department of Human ResourcesAt least one of the following valid certifications: MCSE 2016 or newer VMware Certified Professional Data Center Virtualization(VCP[1]DCV) 6.7 or newer Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional CompTIA Network Infrastructure Professional (CNIP) NetApp Certified Data Administrator ONTAP (NCDA) Or equivalent professional/expert level certification in the discipline of IT Networking and/or IT Systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience beyond a high school diploma or its equivalent and six (6) months of the required experienceA valid and active CCNA (Routing & Switching) certification is required or must be obtained within the first year of employment at the incumbent's expense, and must be maintained valid and active while employed in this classification. Permanent status will not be granted without the CCNA Certification.The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law.
