The Department of Dermatology has an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Post Doctoral Associate to work on the UHealth Campus. The Post Doctoral Associate will primarily investigates the effect of molecules on preventing chemotherapy and radiotherapy induced alopecia (CIA/RIA) and scalp hair follicle biology by use of skin and hair follicle organ culture, quantitative immunohistomorphometry, ISH, as well as by pharmacological and gene silencing studies. Knowledge on hair follicle biology is required. Moreover, the incumbent participates in ongoing skin neuroendocrinology and/or skin neurobiology research activities in the laboratory to further the department’s goals.

Conducts research on specific areas of study as assigned.

Prepares research reports and technical papers for publishing.

Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories.

Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.

Develops advanced analytical models and systems and provides solutions and analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions.

Establishes and organizes clinical, experimental and literature-based databases

Performs and independently evaluates IHC/IF and ISH, skin organ culture

Assumes responsibility for collecting, professionally documenting, quantifying and statistically analyzing all obtained results to the point of submission for publication

Disseminates findings in publications, and meetings, and actively participates in the preparation of grant applications Maintains current knowledge of developments and advancements in the field

MD or Ph.D. in relevant field

No prior experience required, Basic lab-based skin research methodology preferred

Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.

Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.

Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
