Become a part of our caring community and help us put health firstThe Procurement Lead generates and implements efficient sourcing and category management strategies. Leads a team(s) of direct reports in providing strategic value to assigned internal customer(s) that include the following:

Oversees the approval of contracts by managing intricate decision-making processes, renewals, and amendments. Monitors internal compliance with contracts, authorizes D2PO, manages reporting, and maintains the database. Drafts, reviews, negotiates and provides advice on businesses with legal risks associated with contracts for purchasing goods and services. Handles problem resolution across a broad spectrum, from administrative to complex issues. Manages contract governance, focusing on strategic oversight, risk management, compliance, and performance optimization. Provides consultancy and information for supplier contract management activities related to the operational administration of contract negotiations.

Responsible for collaborating with internal key stakeholders and category management to streamline complex sourcing activities, Total Cost of Ownership negotiation, create sourcing documents, execute supplier evaluations, and negotiate—guide business requestors in following the sourcing management process (SMP). Develop and implement effective sourcing and contract management strategies. Serve as the subject matter expert for legal and business contractual terms and act as a liaison between the Humana business units for Law, Audit, and Risk matters.

Manage queue of assigned tasks, respond timely to all requests, compliance with policy/procedures, partner with functional groups to understand contract standards and fallback positions, timely and professional contract negotiations with suppliers.

People management :Overseeing and training a team of professionals to spearhead consistent and forward-thinking initiatives. Ensuring team members' adherence to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements in all sourcing and contracting activities.Guiding team members to collaborate with internal stakeholders to meet their sourcing and contract management needs. Solicit interest from team members who desire to switch categories and cross-train on new areas of expertise. Simultaneously manage an assigned team contractor resource, to support the review/negotiation of Direct to Contract Management work and Mergers & Acquisitions Work.Team management :Support internal stakeholders and category management by guiding sourcing and contracting processes. Address inquiries and escalations and liaise for complex sourcing activities, legal and business decision-making, and individual professional development. Arranging periodic retraining sessions on sourcing and contract management-related topics.Keep abreast of industry trends and best practices in sourcing and contracting to foster innovation and efficiency. Take the lead in steering cross-functional teams in developing and executing sourcing and contracting initiatives, emphasizing Business with Legal Risk provisions. Additionally, serves as a peer reviewer/drafter to ensure compliance with business with legal language proposed by external departments or suppliers.Sourcing and Contract Management:Monitor sourcing and contract management workloads and dashboards across all supporting categories of purchase. Periodically recommend realignment opportunities to the Director to balance volume and cycle time. Assist the Director in annual performance and salary planning processes.Facilitate coordination across the team: assist the Director in collaborating with the leaders of the sourcing and contracting teams in EPSM to ensure seamless teamwork and proactive issue resolution.Review contract: manage and serve as the leading contract expert for designated purchase categories.Develop and implement processes: lead the creation, testing, and implementation of methods for tools and workflows used within EPSM and other relevant due diligence groups.Enhance contract template quality: continuously review and enhance contract templates and content while primarily drafting commercial language for our contract documents across all categories and due diligence areas. Agreement types include: master service agreements (MSA), business associate agreements (BAA), delegated services agreements, statements of work (SOW), nondisclosure agreements (NDA), service level agreements (SLA), software license agreements, and related third-party contracts.Sourcing and Contract Management Point of Contact (POC): acts as the business with legal risk provisions expert. Responsible for providing guidance and advice on compliance issues within their respective areas.Training:Develop, oversee, and conduct training for new direct reports and act as the main point of contact for training-related materials, subjects, and clarifications.Develop, deliver, or oversee training for contract management, sourcing management process (SMP), compliance, and other business issues involving legal risks.Strategic work:Support the director in strategic discussions concerning contract templates, language, negotiation positions, data analytics, and the impact of data on Humana’s work processes and workflow. Additionally, participate in discussions about establishing criteria for evaluating and managing suppliers and assessing their resulting contracts and performance guarantees.Exercise independent judgment and decision-making in resolving complex issues related to job duties and associated tasks, working with minimal supervision.Decision making:Supplier Contract Management – Encourage business requestors to use Humana's templates, incorporate due diligence requirements into sourcing activities, and communicate risk exposure to our business partners. Extensive contracting expertise in various procurement categories and relevant contract law about direct reports, contractors, and the legal department as necessary. Participate in decisions about preferred suppliers and maintain policies and language for these categories. Sourcing Strategy: led cross-functional teams in implementing the Sourcing Management Process for case resolution. As a subject matter expert, influence overall enterprise/category strategy development and develop negotiation strategies. Process Flow: develop processes related to sourcing and contract management, provide input on workflow processes, and oversee the content of supplier contract templates. Coordinate with legal, compliance, privacy, and risk departments to establish and update standard contractual language.Cross-functional communication and influence: serving as a connection point between the department, designated staff, and other teams:a) Collaborating with Category Team leaders to standardize contracting best practices, including templates and legal risk provisions.b) Acting as the primary contact for complex sourcing activities.c) Consulting with the legal and privacy departments to guide and contribute to implementing major and minor compliance-related issues affecting the entire enterprise.d) Delivering presentations to Enterprise Risk Management, Legal, Compliance, Medicaid, and Medicare departments to educate vendor managers on procurement processes and their interaction with multiple compliance controls.Leadership role: directly manage a team of sourcing and contract management resources. Simultaneously oversee a team of contracted resources responsible for managing the review and negotiation of Direct to Sourcing & Contract Management Procurement and Mergers & Acquisitions Work. Take charge of the daily supervision and advancement of a significant, permanent team sub-process (e.g., Department-wide onboarding training, Offshore oversight, M&A leadership, and process development).Use your skills to make an impactRequired Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain/Procurement, or related field from an accredited University

4 years of people management experience

5 years of contracting and negotiating commercial terms and conditions, procurement, and/or legal experience.

Advanced understanding of negotiating, redlining, and interpreting legal and commercial provisions.

Advanced understanding of the sourcing and procurement processes with soliciting, awarding, and onboarding new and existing suppliers.

Preferred Qualifications

Healthcare and /or highly regulated industry commercial legislation knowledge.
