Product Software Engineer

The Product Software Engineer is a critical member of a dedicated specialty services team who provide custom solutions related to Wolters Kluwer Tax and Accounting North America products and services. Custom solutions include but are not limited to data conversions from third party software, customer reports and various other ad hoc projects for customers and internal departments. Also works directly with TAA NA customers to create 3rd party interfaces to CCH cloud based Axcess Suite of products.

• Applies technical knowledge to support customers with specialty software services including but not limited to:
  • Third-party data conversions (CCH Axcess Practice and ProSystem fx Practice Management)
  • Custom reports using SQL, Microsoft Report Builder, and Visual Studio
  • ProSystem fx Engagement firm merge services
  • Provide customer installation service for Data Axcess Utility
  • Ad hoc projects as needed
• Works with customers to identify and document requirements
• Communicates with sales reps to assist with scheduling, technical requirements
• Tests custom reports and assist with user testing
• Creates documentation and training materials as required for customers and internal use
• Learns and maintains expert knowledge of essential software products:
  • CCH Axcess (common client data, Practice)
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Microsoft Office products including Word, Access, Power BI
  • Microsoft Report Builder
  • ProSystem fx Practice Management
  • ProSystem fx Engagement
• Learns and maintains basic knowledge of Visual Studio (C# and VB.Net); other common database types (e.g., Paradox and Firebase); relevant Wolters Kluwer software products and relevant third-party software products

• Adjusts communication of technical information based on the knowledge and experience level of the audience.
• Assists manager and teammates as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

• 3+ years of experience with SQL Server, SQL, and stored procedures
• 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Office products
• Mentoring junior developers in technical best practices (databases, backups, etc.)
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Knowledge of accounting industry practices (practice management, trial balance, work in progress, accounts receivable)
• Knowledge of Power BI
• Knowledge of VB.NET and VB6 (for infrequent legacy app maintenance)
• Knowledge of Windows Forms (for infrequent legacy app maintenance)
• Knowledge of Accounting systems, especially those involving time entry, billing, tax, and document storage
• Demonstrated ability to team well with customers, vendors, team and other internal departments Demonstrated ability to leverage active listening skills to translate needs into solutions
