Under the supervision of the Technical Services Manager as well as guidance from the plant leadership team, this position is accountable for the overall effectiveness of the Plant Quality process. This position provides leadership on a Plantwide basis to create an environment of process control and improvement, based on statistical techniques, to assure that finished projects conform to established quality requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Develop and maintain quality visual standards for all products with guidelines from ABP Quality Assurance and Sales. Develops, implements, improves process measurement and control systems for all key quality processes. Responsible for leading the improvement and sustainment of all key quality systems, including Standardized Board Review Process, Containment Process, Standardized Claims Process, Change Management System, Gauge Infrastructure, Global Specification Management, and Internal/External Audits. Drives continuous improvement in quality measurement to the floor level. Owns the site assessment process and score for each of these systems. Oversees the Fireguard Containment process including responsibility for sampling. Owns the Fireguard Dashboard in QDC and the Fireguard UL approval process. Advises production supervision on acceptability of finished goods relative to quality aspects; makes decisions as to the acceptance or rejection of materials. Prepares for and leads all Product Quality Reviews including trend reviews and bi-annual Quality and Service Reviews. Participates in quality-related meetings with ABP management, Sales, Research and Development, and Plant personnel. Makes visual analysis on complaint materials; advises on validity of complaints. Travels to field installations for first-hand observations and comments on complaint materials. Works closely with the Laboratory, Plant Engineering, Maintenance, and Production organizations in the development of new processes, products, and cost reduction opportunities. Assists in start-up of new products and processes. Participates in Plant committees on quality improvement, scrap reduction, policy-related, and other Plant meetings. May supervise others.

Education and/or Experience Required:

High School Diploma or GED; Job experience or equivalent.

Desired Qualifications:

Quality Management experience

Lean or Six Sigma training and experience

Higher level degree or certification (Business, Engineering, Quality Management)

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Passport for foreign travel to locations for complaints. Valid Driver's License.

Other Skills and Abilities

Ability to use computer programs such as Excel, MSWord, PowerPoint, SAP, GSM, QDC, and use Lean processes for improvements. Demonstrated organizational and self-management skills. Must be able to exemplify excellent customer service and communication skills.

About the location (Pensacola FL)

Our Pensacola Plant, one of twelve Armstrong plants in North America, employs 200+ people working on rotating shifts, 24/7, in the manufacture and shipment of acoustical ceiling tile to Armstrong's customers worldwide. The Pensacola Plant was originally built in 1929 to produce insulating building material.

Pensacola is the westernmost city in the Florida Panhandle. Pensacola is a seaport on Pensacola Bay, which is protected by 52 miles of sugar white barrier islands on the emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico. A large United States Naval Air Station, the first in the United States, is located southwest of the city and is the home of the Blue Angels flight demonstration team and the National Naval Aviation Museum.
