TCI has an immediate need for a

Release Train Engineer in Colorado Springs, CO, Chantilly, VA, or Palm Bay, FL. (Hybrid - must be able to come onsite at one of these locations a couple times per week as needed).

SUMMARY TCI is seeking a software engineering professional with Scrum Master experience to work as a Release Train Engineer in a Software Development Agile and Cloud environment. The Release Train Engineer will perform software technical leadership facilitating program level process execution to drive continuous development, manage risks, dependencies, escalating impediments while acting as a Chief Scrum Master. The ideal candidate should have experience with the full software development lifecycle. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Advance the Agile Release Train (ART) by working with Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and Agile teams to increase velocity, remove impediments and optimize the execution of software and hardware value streams.
  • Provide agile coaching and mentoring at all levels within the organization to ensure on-time, and on-budget, quality delivery.
  • Work with several Integrated Product Teams, facilitating the preparation and execution of quarterly Program Increment planning, Scrum of Scrums, and System Demos.
  • Stand up and manage Agile Release Train(s) and their cross-functional teams.
  • Define, develop, and analyze execution related metrics for trends and indicators while managing risks across product teams and their corresponding processes.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts within the ART.
  • Manage cross team dependencies, workflow, deliverables, releases, and milestones on all product team activities.
  • Develop a strategic agile execution plan and orchestrate teams using industry standard Agile tools.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and customer to identify problems, perform failure analysis to root cause, and develop solutions to correct deficiencies.
  • Understand and practice agility throughout the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Coach and encourage continuous improvement and innovation in the platform and application development process.
  • Support the Product Owner vision, goals, scope, and product domain.
  • Adopt a positive attitude about Agile processes and facilitate the basics of the mindset and process (i.e., transparency).
  • Support Agile transformation process including PI planning, templates, artifacts, training materials, and lessons learned.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
  • Scrum Master certification (CSM or PSM).
  • 3+ years of experience with SAFe agile development.
  • 3+ years of experience with release train leadership of large Agile Release Train (ARTs) (+40 team members).
  • Experience with Agile tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
  • Experience with scrum/sprint agile and Kanban execution across all related agile ceremonies (RPEs, sprint planning, daily scrum, sprint demos, retros, etc.).
  • Experience with facilitating and leading agile, cross-functional execution teams to plan, status, execute, and coordinate day to day, release by release objectives.
  • Experience developing schedules and roadmaps to rollout planned deliveries across multiple scrum and/or Kanban teams.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and work in a multi-location team environment.
  • DOD 8570 IAT Level II, IAM Level II, or IASAE Level II or higher certification

    required includes Security+ CE, GSEC, SSCP, CISA, GCIH, GCED, CISSP, CASP, CAP, GSLC, CISM, or CSSLP or the ability to obtain within 60 days of start.
  • Eligible to obtain a Top Secret Security Clearance as needed.

PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED
  • Top Secret / SCI Security Clearance.
  • SAFe® RTE certification.
  • Competency in Software Development (Java, C or similar high-level programming language).
  • Experience in developing software for Linux run-time environments, such as Red Hat Linux.
  • Experience implementing best Agile practices and standards, and mentoring/teaching junior practitioners.
  • Experience with transitioning teams from Waterfall to Agile methods and practices.
  • Expert in the use of Atlassian suite of tools (ex. Jira, Confluence), including structuring data and reporting to identify trends for past and present performance to drive continuous improvement.
