In addition, the Recovery Peer Specialist will assist orienting individuals when they are admitted to North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center. The Recovery Peer Specialist will also assist with the individuals’ transition back to the jail or a less restrictive environment like a civil facility or community setting. The Recovery Peer Specialist position supports individuals in acquiring education and empowerment about their own identified life goals; serves as a link to natural community-based supports, acts as a role model, mentor, and advocate to individuals with mental health and or co-occurring conditions. The Recovery Peer Specialist must demonstrate an ability to share personal recovery experiences and to develop authentic peer-to-peer mutual relationships; to work in accordance with recovery-oriented values.Responsibilities:Assist Individuals with orientation and adjustment upon admission to North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center.

Assist persons in the development of their own plans of growth and development. i.e. utilizing the Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP).

Provide individual support by listening and sharing personal lived experiences when appropriate.

Provide recovery education and support to individuals throughout their recovery and goal-oriented journeys.

Actively identify and support linkages to community resources and trainings: educational, vocational, social, cultural, mutual self- help groups, etc., that supports the person's chosen goals and interests.

Maintain contact by phone and/or in person with individuals released to a less restrictive environment like a civil hospital or community setting to provide intentional support services if or as needed.

Assist individuals served and their families in identifying their needs and communicate those needs to the program director.

Provide written referrals for additional services as needed to assist individuals in meeting their established goals.

Assist individuals served to develop problem-solving skills so that they can respond to challenges that may arise in their recovery process.

Encourage individuals served to regularly attend and actively participate in groups offered through the Therapeutic Activities Program (TAP).
