JOB SUMMARY: The Sr. Manager is responsible for managing the design, development and execution processes associated with scope managed by the Ride & Show. This includes delivering safety enhancements, modification and/or replacement of existing theme park attraction systems, purchasing of equipment for Ride & Show purchases, and corrective actions related to Capital projects. Assist in facilitation of cross-divisional collaboration; coordinate and incorporate all activities necessary to complete the all projects approved for Ride & Show on existing attractions. Support design reviews, field assistance for installation, test and adjust, and other such tasks as required. Develops and oversees all routine, capital, and expense budgeting and sets direction and priorities of all project management functions for the area of responsibility. Manages and leads the team to include continuous improvement, personal development, and administration in area of responsibility. Oversees system and component design changes, directs the activities of outside vendors and construction for all attraction additions and/or modifications. Develops, executes, and oversees TSAT action plans, safety plans and training plans specific to area of responsibility. Ensures guest safety and team member safety in all project efforts within area of responsibility.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides project management leadership to complete all Capital Projects approved for Ride & Show. Prepares and presents findings during the project management process and manages the team to successful completion. Sets milestone goals for all projects for the department, gives direction to ensure goals are met, and communicates all goals to the team. Ensures the safety of all guests and team members through a proactive approach in managing safety issues, the proper use of PPE, regular discussions with the team regarding safety and continuous job safety analysis of all tasks.
  • Manages the team to include project scheduling, estimating, bid preparation, contract oversight, work completion, Compliance management, Document control deliverables. Sets the priorities and oversees any modifications and/or engineering modifications to ensure timely completion of tasks. Coordinates work efforts with operational needs of the attractions, working directly with all affected departments to ensure the highest level of customer service.
  • Supervises and leads training and development of all direct reports in assigned area. Administers development plans on a regular basis and as required. Manages schedules and personnel records for direct reports. Ensures compliance to all Universal Orlando policies and procedures. Ensures safety is the top priority of assigned area for both guests and team members
  • Oversees and writes all Capital program short/long term planning, annual operating budgets and resource assignments as directed by management. Assists with the development and delivery of the Long Range Plan (LRP) and monthly management updates.
  • Ensures all areas of responsibility are in compliance with ASTM F-24 guidelines as well as original manufacturer’s requirements. Develops mitigation plans in conjunction with the various Ride & Show teams should project(s) become at risk for achieving schedule milestones.
  • Prepares and support Senior Leadership program and financial updates, assists with organization support and tracking internal stakeholder meetings clarifications ensuring these reviews and are documented and resolved. Prepares and presents progress reports/status to Executive Management.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • High school degree or GED is required
  • Associate’s degree in Business, Project Management, Engineering Management or equivalent is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Project Management, Engineering Management or equivalent is preferred
  • Master’s degree in Business, Project Management or Engineering Management or equivalent is preferred

EXPERIENCE:

  • 7+ years significant in-field installation related experience required
  • 7+ years with contract law and practices in the theme park and/or construction industries preferred
  • Theme Park specific experience is highly preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
