Job Summary

The Digital Experience Development Engineering (DXDE) team is part of the Digital Experience (DX) Engineering group within the Enterprise Technology organization. DX drives creative, strategic, and technology focused digital solutions and design thinking. DXDE supports The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) segments and business units by building and operating digital media properties by partnering in all phases of development. Examples include open source web applications and java-based enterprise services. By providing different consulting and delivery services throughout the product lifecycle, we guide business units through the relevant TWDC standards, requirements, and compliance processes, ensuring best practices are followed.

Responsibilities

  • Work with internal development team and external vendors to build technical solutions as defined with project members, including: Service and Project Managers, Senior Manager of Engineering, Solution Architect peers, Staff level Engineers, System Reliability Engineering, InfoSec, Open Source Committee, third-party vendors, and customers.
  • Work with project teams and other project members to enhance and pay down technical debt across our application portfolio.
  • Manage project, departmental and enterprise related risks related to projects, resolve issues, develop detailed work plans and specifications, perform resource allocations and run productive meetings
  • Establish best practices in collaboration with other DXDE senior technology team members; support DXDE technology resources to ensure these practices are communicated and followed
  • Involve in evaluation and selection of technologies, plugins, libraries and tools
  • Support Senior Manager with team technical resourcing, such as hiring/onboarding process

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience using issue tracking, source control and deployment tools to develop LAMP-based enterprise or commercial software systems
  • 5+ years client-side development: HTML, JavaScript, CSS, XML, JSON, and jQuery
  • 5+ years of LAMP Stack expertise, including development in WordPress and Laravel
  • 5+ years experience with LAMP Server-side PHP frameworks (e.g. Zend, Symfony , etc )
  • 5+ years compliance analysis and enforcement (Security/Open Source)
  • 3+ year architecting interdependent elastic systems of applications in AWS Cloud
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) suite of tools including RDS, CloudFront, ECS, and Lambda
  • Authentication and Authorization tools, including MyID and Keystone
  • Site performance strategy and testing methodologies/tools such as Blazemeter
  • Site monitoring/alerting strategy, including tools such as PagerDuty, New Relic, Datadog, and AWS CloudWatch
  • Containerization tools such as Docker and AWS Elastic Container Service
  • Experience in caching techniques including, Edge Side Includes and CDN such as CloudFront
  • Experience delivering highly available, scalable N-Tier solutions
  • Experience with DNS, network routing, load balancing and HTTP Protocol, including integration of TLS/SSL
  • Continuous Integration experience (GitLabCI, phpunit, Lint)

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM field
