Senior Specialist, Full-Stack Developer

Overview

• Uses existing and emerging technology platforms to design, develop and document technically detailed applications. S/he also analyzes organizational needs and goals to develop and implement application systems. Provides application software development services or technical support in situations of moderate complexity. Has thorough knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle and has worked in an Agile environment previously.
• Experience in using a specific application development toolkit and knowledge of front end and backend development coding languages such as Java, Springboot, webservices, JSON, Kafka, Angular, JavaScript, PL/SQL. Must also have knowledge in application frameworks and containerization.
• Good knowledge of database connectivity (JDBC) for databases like Oracle, SQL Server, Hadoop and MongoDB. Knows how to build robust and highly performant procedures and functions, with the ability to troubleshoot performance issues and fine-tune existing code as required.
• Any knowledge or experience with C# .NET would be preferable.
• Experience with JavaScript, and a knowledge of frontend frameworks would be preferred, ideally Angular.
• Good Hands-on knowledge in utilizing source code management tools including GitLab, Jenkins, Ansible, Maven, Managing CI/CD pipelines setup, JIRA, and JIRA/Confluence to complete tasks including version control, defect tracking and capturing requirement.
• Excellent communication skills would be required while dealing with end users at all stages of the development lifecycle, from requirements gathering through to supporting any production issues.
• Actively participates in peer code reviews with other team members. Ensures no breaking changes or performance bottlenecks are introduced to the application. Able to provide useful and constructive feedback to peers during code reviews.
• Innovative thinker, who will think outside the box to help come up with better solutions for problems.
• Execute full lifecycle software development. Develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures. Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems. Ensure software is updated with latest features. Participate in deployment process following all change controls. Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms. Provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Active learning engagement. Complete all required mandatory training / policy awareness curricula on time. Use learning tools such as Pluralsight to complete both recommended and aspirational targets set in personal development plans.
• Demonstrate teamwork. Leverage existing products/functionality and promote reuse. Work alongside other engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices. Collaborate closely with all the other members of the team to take shared responsibility for the overall efforts that the team has committed to. Collaborate cross-functionally with data engineers, business users, project managers and other engineers to achieve elegant solutions. Utilize local meetups to gain and share knowledge.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required
• 5+ years of experience in software development required, specifically Java\Springboot; experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus; should have thorough knowledge of the software development cycle S/he must be experienced at resolving hardware, software, and communications malfunctions and understand the business impact of resolving complications.
