The Opportunity
Archera is hiring on behalf of our client for a Senior Trial Attorney to join the incredible team within the Litigation department. This role will be instrumental in managing a diverse caseload and representing the firm's clients in complex litigation matters. The Senior Trial Attorney will work closely with the Managing Litigation Attorney and clients to develop case strategies, draft legal documents, and advocate effectively in court. The ideal candidate will play a key role in helping aviation clients successfully navigate litigation as unexpected issues arise.
Core Responsibilities
Litigation Management: Manage diverse caseloads and represent clients in complex litigation matters for various businesses and individuals in the aviation community (e.g., airplane owners, airlines, pilots, aviation maintenance companies, repair shops, aircraft manufacturers, component manufacturers, maintenance crews, fixed-based operators, private charter operations, and more).
Litigation Support: Provide litigation support to the Managing Litigation Attorney as needed.
Case Evaluation: Assess case facts, identify legal issues and determine the viability of client matters.
Legal Research: Analyze case law, statutes, rules, and legal arguments.
Client Counseling: Advise clients, explain legal options, risks and strategies for informed decisions.
Discovery Process: Gather evidence, conduct depositions, issue subpoenas, and prepare discovery requests and responses.
Motion Practice: Draft, file, and argue motions in support of clients' position.
Settlement Negotiations: Resolve disputes, negotiate agreements as authorized by the client.
Trial Preparation: Organize evidence, develop case strategies and arguments, draft motions in limine, prepare witnesses for trial, ensure compliance with the trial order, and provide support to the lead trial counsel.
Court Representation: Advocate on behalf of clients, present arguments and defend interests in court, as applicable.
Compliance: Ensure adherence to court rules, orders, and legal requirements. Maintain accurate and organized records.
Industry Awareness: Demonstrate understanding of airlines, airplane owners, manufacturers, and other aviation businesses to better serve clients.
Project Management: Coordinate efforts across operational departments to ensure cases are completed on time and within budget.

Additional Duties: Perform other related responsibilities as assigned to support the success of the team and the firm.

Thorough understanding of the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure, the rules of evidence, the rules of professional responsibility, and trial procedures.

Position Requirements:
Florida Bar License active and in good standing.
Litigation Attorney experience (8+ years).
Commercial Litigation experience (5+ years).
Must be able to handle a full docket from pre-suit to trial with minimal oversight.
Must be comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
Ability to manage difficult and stressful situations with clients.
Ability to work well with the team.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in any field from an accredited college or university (required).
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school (required).
Florida Bar License active and in good standing (required).
Trial experience (plus).
Moot Court or Mock Trial participation and billing experience (preferred).
Prior experience as a State Attorney or Public Defender (preferred).
Aviation law or aviation industry experience (a plus).
Reporting Structure:
Reports directly to the Managing Litigation Attorney. This role has no direct reports.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
Travel Requirements:
Periodic travel may be required for cases, industry events, or firm activities.
