Job Summary Galapagos Federal Systems, LLC is looking to fill the Space Test and Evaluation Engineer position in support of the Space Training and Readiness Command (STARCOM). The member shall provide test engineering duties in the planning, coordination, analysis, execution, and reporting of space systems testing. Additionally, the Space Test and Evaluation Engineer shall provide integrated engineering support for design reviews, test strategy development, and test planning working groups, and other similar test related forums. In addition, the member shall possess experience with test, analysis, and/or experimentation of space systems or military systems including space operations or test control room experience. Experience either developing proprietary/internal tools or using commercial test and space Modeling & Simulation (M&S) tools such as Satellite Tool Kit (STK) to evaluate space architectures, sensors, and/or communications is also desired. Finally, the Space Test and Evaluation Engineer shall have technical knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Space system Architectures, Satellite and Ground Segment design, Electro-Optical (EO)/Infrared Red (IR)/Radio Frequency (RF) Sensors, Astrodynamics, Propulsion, Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC), Space-related data communications, or Space Battle Management and Control. The essential duties include, but are not limited to: 1. Design, develop, and execute advanced test programs and processes to assess space systems using design of experiment methodologies. 2. Create/review test engineering documentation: Test plans, Test Information Sheets, Safety Packages, Data Analysis. Management Plans, Technical and Safety Review Board Briefs, Test Readiness Briefs, Test Cards, and Test/Analysis Reports and test results briefs. 3. Executes advanced, highly complex, test simulations & scenarios to evaluate how systems react under different conditions and analyzes system to assess the system performance, effectiveness, and suitability of system. Monitors the gathering of test data including M&S data, real-time performance parameters. 4. Evaluates test results to determine if system configurations and architecture meets customer specifications, performance, effectivity, and suitability. Create Test Reports/Presentations of complex data sets. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Not listed in order of importance; other duties may be assigned) and must be able to perform the following with minimal guidance:

  • Provide independent assessments of the Air Force and US Space Force architectures and advise USSF/TE and STARCOM leadership on decision options
  • Initiate, supervise, and/or develop requirements from a project's inception to conclusion for complex to extremely complex programs
  • Provide strategic advice, technical guidance, and expertise to test range program and staff
  • Provide detailed analysis, evaluation and recommendations for improvements, optimization development, and/or maintenance efforts for client-specific or mission critical challenges/issues
  • Oversee the efforts of less senior staff and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job

    Education / Certifications
  • Master of Arts/Master of Science/Master of Engineering (MA/MS/ME) degree and a minimum of 12 years of relevant DoD work experience

    Security Clearance Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense (DoD) active security clearance may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

    Physical Requirements Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner and may include lifting thirty (30) pounds, as necessary.
