Overview

Clearing, Markets & Issuer Services Technology (CMIST) is responsible for application development and support for critical business systems including Repo Edge (collateral management), Enterprise Payment Hub (multi-currency payment processing), and Broker Dealer Clearance (securities clearing), along with approximately 350 other applications used by the following high-priority business services and their clients.

Clearance and Collateral Technology (CCT) within CMIST builds clearance and collateral management platforms to service BNY Mellon-s broker-dealer clients and is the sole provider for Government Securities Clearing Services. Considering the core nature of the business and the dominant market share, high-performance and resiliency are key pillars of the technology architecture. Job Overview: Acts as SCM technical expert, responsible for defining the overall technical direction of the SCM department. Defines SCM plans and scripts/programs for the most complex configurations. Standardizes the use of tools, technology and/or business expertise in relationship to SCM approaches. Assists in defining standards, processes and procedures for the use of technology within the department. Defines and approves the process for metrics collection and analysis across all applications. Analyzes data and produces progress reports for strategic projects. Makes recommendations to improve efficiencies and outcomes. Interacts directly with clients and upper management regarding project activities. Contributes to the achievement of Software Configuration/Release Management objectives.

Responsibilities:
  • Work together with development team and operations team to implement the deployment and release process by adopting DevOps best practices and tooling.
  • Improving health and observability across Control deployments
  • Proactively monitoring the system health, responding to alerts and incidents, and automating support tasks
  • Understand and implement new technologies into the DeVos stack
  • Identifying operational improvements, which may include elimination of manual processes and improving documentations
  • Gain a detailed understanding of the Control software ecosystem
  • No direct reports.
  • Contributes to the achievement of team objectives.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Strong experience across AWS cloud technologies including ECS, Lambda and CDK.
  • Experience with AWS CLI, SDK and CloudFormation.
  • 3+ years Software development experience
  • Experience with source control (Git) and SDLC tools (Jira, Confluence).
  • Software development skills in one of the following languages: Java, Python, Bash (plus).
  • Experience in CI/CD pipelines and automation such as Jenkins and Docker.
  • Scripting skills to facilitate task automation
  • Experience with monitoring / alerting tools such as data dog, Splunk
  • Experience with release management and orchestration tooling
  • Strong Linux background
  • Knowledge of good software design and application architectural practices.
  • Knowledge and awareness of security best practice
  • ability to define and measure non-functional requirements, such as reliability, availability, security, and performance
  • Passion for technology, automation, and continuous innovation
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and debugging skills

Qualification: Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, advanced degree is preferred 5-7 years of experience in a systems SCM environment, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
