- Identifying and developing innovative solutions related to Energy Efficiency as driven by the DPW energy reduction metrics.
- Identifying and completing projects that improve reliability and reduce risk in the plant distribution network.
- Managing the project budget to the planned/forecasted spend delivering project tasks to the agreed upon commitment dates with formal close out of projects via final project report.
- Manage capital projects (from funds approval to completion) up to and in excess of $1MM in value, throughout Davenport.
- Document and manage changes to scope, specification, budget and schedule through formal change management plan.
- Directs the activities of designers, maintenance personnel, and outside contractors during field construction, PM of site switchgear, planned and unplanned site wide electrical power outages and resolves start-up and operating problems.
- Electrical power outage recovery including advising/counseling on failure analysis; participate in and lead problem solving teams, identification of root cause and solutions and organize support from other resources.
- Address breaker/fuse coordination issues as identified.
- Provide leadership, technical direction, installation support and/or commissioning support for execution of major capital projects impacting energy efficiency or the plant distribution network, i.e., be the subject matter expert.
- Identify energy efficiency projects whether expense or capital and work with local power company on receipt of available rebates.
- Actively participate in the DPW Electrical Safety Committee including being a Low/High Voltage Designee ensuring all aspects of the program are consistently executed safely and all trainings for electrically qualified individuals are current.
- Ensure projects are compliant with the company's engineering standards derived from NEC/NFPA/IEEE standards.
- Oversee arc flash and short circuit studies as required by DPW standards and address issues identified through capital or expense measures as necessary.
- Frequent contact with other technical professionals and is seen as the authority in a specific area (i.e., Power Distribution, Power Monitoring and Control, NFPA, NEC, OSHA and the company's electrical engineering standards)
- Bachelors in electrical engineering from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 7 years of power distribution experience in an industrial environment utilizing and interpreting power modeling software, including arc flash and short circuit studies
- Minimum of 5 years’ project management experience; adept at devising scope, specification and technical designs
- Technical expertise in switchgear, MCC' s, transfer switches, switch yards, generator sets, UPS, transformers, power control systems, distribution systems and coordination of protective devices
- Extensive knowledge and experience with NEC and NFPA standards pertaining to low and high voltage.
- 12 to 15 years’ experience with proven track record in leading and executing power distribution projects in a plant or industrial environment.
- Electrical PE License
- Demonstrated knowledge of project management, FEL, or PMP certified.
- Proficient with project management software i.e., Microsoft Project, Daptiv or equivalent
