The Publix I/S mission is to maximize the value of information technology to Publix associates and customers. Publix is seeking a Senior Associate Quality Assurance Engineer to assist with the assurance of high-quality technology solutions (infrastructure, software, middleware, etc.) on highly complex cross platform projects. The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for all project quality assurance activities and developing automated test cases for user stories and coding scripts using industry standard programming languages. The Sr Quality Assurance Engineer works closely with the project leadership team to ensure quality assurance activities are planned and executed. Job Duties and Accountability Under general guidance, on highly complex projects, the Senior Quality Assurance Engineer provides testing leadership to the project teams, reviews project requirements, user stories, and high-level system designs; derives test strategies and test plans to effectively test the solution and executes the plan.

  • Perform test leadership activities on highly complex projects under general guidance
    • Create an overall testing strategy which includes tasks and timelines, reporting status to project leads and management, and provides direction and coaching to test team members
    • Review system requirements and user stories ensuring project deliverables are free from ambiguity; define test requirements
    • Map the manual and automated test scenarios to the requirements ensuring proper functionality is tested
    • Provide estimates and task lists for the automation testing activities within projects
    • Plan the automated test scenarios to be developed and executed based on requirements, user stories, and design specifications
    • Design test cases and test procedures in the test management tool like ALM, Azure DevOps.
    • Assign defects to the appropriate project team member to resolve, and manage disposition of each defect
    • Facilitate defect meetings with the project team, which includes creating a defect report in the testing management tool, and updating defect details and status in the testing management tool
    • Facilitate status meetings with other test associates assigned to an effort to determine if timelines are being met
  • Design and develop manual test cases and automated test scripts based on user stories and ensuring they meet testing specifications
  • Determine automation candidates, scope of automation and code the automation scripts to be executed in a continuous integration and continuous deployment (CICD) pipeline.
  • Execute and oversee the execution of highly complex manual and automated tests
  • Mentor junior Quality Assurance Engineers to provide estimates and task lists for the manual and automation testing activities within projects
  • Facilitate and lead cross-team test improvement efforts to enhance testing processes
  • Write and/or approve Test Summaries to document results or obtain approval for the project to move forward
  • Perform metric analysis and develop metric reports on defects, test case coverage, and testing status
  • Participate in defect tracking and problem-determination throughout the feature development life cycle/sprint.
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related analytical field is required
  • Minimum of 6-10 years working in software testing and quality assurance roles
  • 6-10 years of experience with working in a software application development life cycle environment
  • 6-10 years of experience working in windows environment to test applications, and interfaces
  • 6-10 years of experience writing and executing manual and automated test cases for feature sets on various applications including websites and mobile apps using ALM, Azure DevOps, Jira etc
  • 6-10 years of experience developing testing software frameworks and develop test scripts using industry standard programming languages like Java, C#, Python
  • Perform as a gate keeper by providing test results summary and recommendations to the project team to pass or fail a test cycle/release
  • Have advanced SQL query skills to write and execute queries to review/validate test results
  • Ability to use tracking tools for managing identified bugs and defects like ALM, Azure DevOps
  • Good hands-on experience with automation testing using Selenium, Playwright for .NET
  • Experience in developing and using automated testing frameworks
  • Experience with .NET test automation Frameworks like NUnit, xUnit
  • Experience in manual and automated testing of REST/SOAP/JSON API using Postman, SoapUI and Rest API automation libraries like Rest Assured, Restsharp etc
  • Experience in using tools like Visual Studio IDE, Eclipse, IntelliJ etc
  • Experience in using Microsoft Azure Dev Ops Test plans, Repos and Pipelines and integrating test automation frameworks into CI/CD pipeline
