FSDB is a state public school available at no cost to eligible pre-K and K-12 students who are deafor hard of hearing, blind/visually impaired or deafblind, including boarding and transportation services. FSDB is nationally recognized for its comprehensive educational services, designed for the unique communication and accessibility needs of students. FSDB also provides educational outreach programs for children ages 0-5 and their families. The FSDB experience provides students with the edge to do more, be more, and achieve more. How you will make an impact The incumbent of this position is responsible for the office management for the Middle School Deaf Department.
Independently manages and expedites the general office operation of the Middle School Deaf Department, including all confidential materials. Handles telephone/voice mail and email resolving situations when possible or taking messages for others in the building. Interprets telephone calls and messages for deaf staff members and students. Answers intercom and handles situation/answers questions and gets assistance, etc. Acts as receptionist to the Middle School Department. Assigns fluctuating workloads to the teacher aids, as appropriate. Keeps supervisor's calendar and schedules appointments and conferences with or without prior clearance as necessary. Keeps an accurate computerized daily attendance by period for each student in Skyward. Sorts mail for all staff members. Reads and screens incoming mail for the supervisor, handles some items personally, forwards the remainder to the supervisor with necessary background materials. Takes care of immediate needs of students for minor first aid and obtains assistance for emergencies. Writes passes and sends students to the Health Care Center, Dental Clinic, Related Services or for other appointments. Supervises students, on a short-term basis, who are sent to the office. Assists in locating student when they are late for class and reports reason to supervisor/teachers.
Types from rough drafts. Composes routine correspondence of a non-technical nature. Prepares Work Orders, Purchase Orders, Print Shop Requisitions, orders to Household, Food Requests, Transportation Requests, Agency Fund Requisitions, general instructions, the Ratio Report and provides input for the Board Report. Serves as technology liaison for the Middle School department by preparing technology work orders and requests and maintaining a master list of student laptop numbers. Serves as Alternate Departmental Designee for accountability and emergency reporting. Maintains attendance for all Middle School staff. Requests substitute teachers as needed. Independently produces a daily bulletin and the annual Department Handbook.
Keeps confidential student cum files updated. Conducts periodic audit of supply inventory and print shop supplies and independently orders same. Performs light bookkeeping functions, keeping accurate records, and assist with organization of student field trips. Prepares travel arrangements for staff as necessary. Assists with the preparation of information for presentation of in-service workshops held in the department by the Assistant Principal.
Keeps supervisor IEP files up to date. Collects and files IEP progress monitoring monthly and quarterly. Prepares weekly grades and documentation for MTSS and team review. Prepares and sends midterm progress updates and report cards after grade approval and review. Maintains supply room and replenishes materials as needed. Assists as needed with Middle School meetings and functions. Supervises work study student in office two days a week as available and assigned. Attends classes and workshops, as offered, to enhance office management skills.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Three years of secretarial or clerical work experience.
College education from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours for each year of the required work experience.
Vocational/technical training in the area of secretarial science or office/business studies can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours for each year of the required work experience.
A high school diploma or its equivalent can substitute for one year of the required work experience.
Preferred
Ability to use WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint and other programs to organize data and complete department work. Ability to maintain databases and inventories. Ability to send out notices via various means including letter, email, text, and phone call. Ability to manage the office and converse with students, family members, staff members, and sporting officials and representatives in a helpful and professional manner.
Sign Language Requirements
Applicants who are selected for hire will be required to attain Intermediate proficiency in sign language within four years of hire.

Hiring Salary Range 12-month position, $34,866.52 - $37,866.52 annually. This range is inclusive of verified experience and education.
