DESCRIPTION: The Workforce Education Data Systems (WEDS) office within the Department of Education office is seeking an individual to serve in a full-time position as a System Project Consultant. Our office functions as a data collection and customer support office for district technical centers and community-based organizations providing instruction for adult general education and postsecondary career and technical education. This position will assist with the development of application that support the department's workforce development information systems and programs; and it will assist with district level customer support. Most of the responsibility will be in the maintenance, support and enhancements of existing applications and reports with opportunities to participate in major project efforts. This position requires knowledge of SAS programming, or strength in other programming languages and the ability to write complex SQL queries. The applicant must be able to develop work products from concept to completion, assist in technical writing, analyze and implement division initiatives, coordinate and lead meetings. The ideal candidate should have excellent written and verbal skills. Preferences will be given to those who have proven experience and skills in SAS programming, SQL queries, Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office 365, SharePoint, and Visio) and who have experience working with Adult General Education or Postsecondary Career and Technical education or working knowledge of these fields. REQUIREMENTS: Serves as primary point person on postsecondary vocational and adult general education reporting issues.
Produces programs, reports, data, and analyses required for career education funding issues.
Maintains final/supporting documentation of reports/data/analyses.
Designs, produces and maintains standard and ad hoc reports as requested.
Assists with the analysis and verification of data reported by districts to the bureau.
Assists with the continuous review of data element definitions, formats, edits and related documentation.
Maintains appropriate documentation.
Maintains positive customer/work relationships with customers and vendors through effective personal and written communication and technical assistance and guidance.
Presents to local groups of staff and administrators at workshops and regional meetings.
Produces Federal and State level reports.
Provide technical assistance to local providers on data collection and data analysis regarding Perkins, Adult Education programs, services and activities.
Maintains and improves personal effectiveness by delivering quality and timely products and services; adapting to changing priorities, demands and expectations; and acquiring and applying new skills and knowledge.

Experienced in SAS programming or other programming languages, SQL Server Reporting Services, or other structures report writer software.
Experienced in writing SQL queries and stored procedures on Microsoft SQL server 2008-2017.

Background Screening Requirements
