Salary: $17.50 / hour, with potential revision to $18.50 - $20 / hour after 3 months

Hours: part-time 15-25 hrs / week (15 hrs guaranteed) + about 3 weekends / per year (plant shows)

Start date: Early 2026, with the earliest start in January 2026

Position overview: Are you a plant lover with an eye for the extraordinary?

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic team member to be the first addition to our business as we expand.

In this role, you will assist with various tasks in the shop while collaborating directly with the founder. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals eager to learn and grow with us in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

Plant Care and Maintenance: Oversee the growth and well-being of our diverse plant collection, including tasks such as watering, cleaning, fertilizing, propagating, and monitoring for pests and diseases. Implement best practices to ensure optimal conditions for plants within the shop environment.

Sanitation and Preparation: Clean, disinfect and manage plant supplies and accessories. Prepare and manage shipping supplies (e.g., build packing boxes, creating labels, organize inventory, etc.).

Product listings: Select, prepare, and photograph plants that are ready for sale, conduct competitive price research, etc.

Packing & Shipping: Meticulously prepare and pack online orders, ensuring that all plants arrive in pristine condition and on time.

Future/Occasional Opportunities

Customer Engagement: Provide exemplary customer service by responding to inquiries, providing expert advice on plant selection and care as part of our post-sale support.

Social Media Contribution: Assist in managing our social media presence by creating engaging content and marketing materials to promote our brand.

Event Participation: Participate in local plant shows (a few weekends per year), engaging directly with passionate collectors.

Profile and Qualifications

Ability to follow instructions, with a strong sense of reliability, punctuality, integrity and confidentiality.

Passion for plants and delivering a quality customer experience.

Excellent observational skills, attention to details and agility in handling delicate plants.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with a diverse clientele.

Relevant experience or background in horticulture, particularly with exotic and sensitive/variegated plants.

Strong aesthetic sense and photography skills.

Energetic, positive, motivated, and organized.

Able to stand for long hours and lift up to 30 lbs as needed.
