JOB SUMMARY: The Technical Specialist, Financial Systems role is to define the overall strategy, plan the execution to successful completion. This include architecting, designing, configuring, developing, testing, integrating, implementing and supporting software programs and applications. The Technical Specialist will also research, design, document and modify software specifications throughout the product lifecycle. The Technical Specialist will serve as a key contact with the user community for solving business issues as well as providing support and guidance to other analysts on the team. This role must also understand and support the IBMi (AS/400-iSeries) platform, including IBMi Operating System, and IBM Program Products.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide a system support role for day-to-day systems operations.
  • Collaborate with internal partners in conceptualizing and development of software programs and application.
  • Lead in the definition, development, and documentation of software’s business requirements, objectives, deliverables, and specification on a project-by-project basis in collaboration with internal users and departments.
  • Liaise with other technical staff to assist in resolving problems with software products or company software systems at all Parks Technology locations.
  • Provide support and guidance for various hardware and software upgrades and integration, including IBMi OS patching.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • High School diploma is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in one of the following fields is preferred: Information Systems, Computer Science, or Business Administration.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 7+ years equivalent work experience in an IT support, design and development function is required.
  • Experience supporting Back of House Financial applications in planning, execution of installations, and upgrades in support of a multi-location application.
  • Experience applying technical solutions to business requirements.
  • Experience with general programming/scripting languages.
  • Experience with RPG/RPG-ILE programming skills.
  • Experience with SQL coding skills.
  • Experience with CL programming skills.
  • Experience with IBM DB2 database on the IBMi.
  • Experience with database foundations for modeling, configuration and information management preferred.
  • Hospitality or Entertainment industry experience desired.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • The job is based in Orlando, Florida and requires 24x7 support, either on-call or on-site.
  • Willingness to travel and/or work weekends with short notice.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Understanding of IBMi (AS400/iSeries).
  • Experience with development tools including IBM Rational Development for IBMi (RDi).
  • Experience estimating work or project effort for proposed solutions.
  • Excellent ability to design and develop custom integrations, data extracts and loads.
  • Experience with Systems and Business Analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with non-technical staff and with members of interdisciplinary teams.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure, dynamic environment is required.
  • Demonstrates a mature sense of urgency, ownership and a can-do attitude to deliver results accurately and timely.
  • Strong track record meeting targets and objectives is required.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand technical documentation is required.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of details with excellent accuracy is required.
  • Results oriented with a history of problem-solving resolution and prevention preferred.
  • Excellent understanding of coding methods and best practices.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws, and ability to effectively handle sensitive/confidential matters efficiently and professionally.
  • Flexible and adaptable to learning and understanding new technologies.
  • Time beyond normal business hours may be required to meet project deadlines or business needs.
  • Periodic on and after hours on-call rotation is required.
