POSITION SUMMARY: Performance of selected acts, including the administration of treatments and medications, in the care of the ill, injured, or infirm and the promotion of wellness, maintenance of health, and prevention of illness of others under the direction of a registered nurse.
Provision of Care
- Accurately documents the administration of care in the patient record in a timely manner.
- Collects patient data, and collaborates with the RN or Charge RN for care planning and nursing needs. Takes appropriate nursing action under the direction of the RN/Charge RN and/or physician in ensuring the patient's physical, emotional and rehabilitative needs are met.
- Implements and monitors care plans under the direction of the RN or Charge RN. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate. Adheres to establishes plan of care, administers medications, blood products, and performs care within scope of practice and hospital policy.
- Recognizes and reports signs and symptoms of abuse and neglect to physician(s) and Department Director and/or appropriate agency.
- Participates in rounding and proactively responds to patient needs to improve patient outcomes and positively impact overall patient experience.
- Contributes to a culture of patient centered care by ensuring a quiet healing environment.
Qualifications
- Vocational/Technical degree required
- Previous experience in an acute care setting strongly preferred
- Current Florida State LPN Licensure required
- CurrentBLS(Basic Life Support) required for LPN's on all nursing clinical units.
- Current ACLS (Advanced Life Support)required
- Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skill
