Yard Maintenance & Materials Handler

ALÜM DESIGNS is seeking a reliable and hardworking Yard Maintenance & Materials Handler to maintain the organization and cleanliness of our fabrication shop and yard. This role is crucial for ensuring a safe and efficient work environment for our fabrication and installation teams. The ideal candidate will be physically capable, detail-oriented, and possess a strong work ethic.

Valid driver's license and clean driving record is REQUIRED.

Responsibilities:

Yard & Shop Maintenance:

Maintain a clean and organized yard area, including sweeping, raking, and removing debris.

Ensure walkways and pathways are clear and safe.

Empty trash and recycling bins regularly.

Perform basic landscaping tasks, such as mowing (if applicable), weeding, and trimming.

Assist with weather-related yard maintenance as needed.

Materials Handling:

Assist with loading and unloading aluminum materials, fencing supplies, and finished products using appropriate equipment (e.g., forklift, hand truck) safely and efficiently.

Organize and store materials in designated areas, ensuring proper labeling and accessibility.

Assist in inventory management by counting and reporting material levels.

Prepare materials for fabrication and installation teams as needed.

Ensure the safe handling and storage of all materials to prevent damage or injury.

Shop Assistance:

Assist with general shop cleanup and organization.

Dispose of scrap metal and other waste materials appropriately.

Assist fabricators with basic tasks as directed (e.g., helping move materials or fabricated items).

Maintain and clean company vehicles and equipment as instructed.

Safety:

Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.

Identify and report any safety hazards.

Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

Other Duties:

Run errands as needed (e.g., picking up supplies, powder coat runs, and other deliveries).

Perform other duties as assigned by the Shop Foreman or Management.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift for extended periods.

Exposure to outdoor weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).

Ability to work in a potentially noisy environment.

Good physical dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
