Position Description
- Performs as a cross trained multi functional team member of the office practice.
- Ensures accurate and timely charge capture and billing of office visits and inpatient charges, front office assistant responsibilities, precertification, scheduling or other administrative functions as assigned.
- Responsible for collecting physician and technical superbills/rounding sheets daily.
- Enters and verifies patient demographics and insurance information.
- Verifies medical benefits and obtains preauthorization.
- Cross trained in the billing process cycle to include charge capture, insurance, collections and payment processing including outsourced receivables.
- Responsible for daily entry of office visit, diagnostic charges and accurate charge capture.
- Enters coded office visit, diagnostic charges to patient. Enters charges into computer and balances the batch.
- Researches all information needed to complete outpatient billing process including getting charge information from physicians.
- Researches and verifies the services and diagnoses used for billing
- Input patient insurance in computer system and other updates demographics.
- Balances all daily charges and receipts. Prints reports for daily updates and close of day.
- Performs reconciliation of insurance, demographic and charge entry as required. Assists staff and patients when necessary in contacting Northside billing to resolve reimbursement issues or problems as necessary.
- Reconcile Daily work driver from SMWD
- Performs Insurance Verification and reauthorizations
- The Account Specialist will also perform duties of a Front Office Assistant
Position RequirementsREQUIRED
- 2 year experience in a clerical environment, preferably in a healthcare environment.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read and understand a medical record chart.
- Basic typing skills
- Knowledge of current ICD-9 and CPT codes
- Ability to manage time of self and others.
- Basic math skills
