Our mission is to inspire and steward meaningful, lasting relationships that elevate engagement and giving to fulfill Emory’s mission to serve humanity.This Leadership Engagement team is responsible for fostering meaningful connections between Emory alumni and the university, recognizing the achievements of innovators and visionaries within the Emory community, and optimizing the alumni community’s leadership pipeline. The Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement plays a critical role in the execution of the team’s learning and development programs. This position will report to the Director of Alumni Engagement – Leadership Engagement.JOB DESCRIPTION:

Creates, maintains, and enhances the relationship between the alumni and the University and among alumni themselves.

Executes strategies to recruit, cultivate, and engage alumni through events, programs, and services both locally and nationally.

Plans annual events to strengthen ties with the University such as Alumni weekend, parents' weekend, assembly meetings and class reunions.

Develops alumni clubs and programs in designated territory and assists them in planning and implementing events.

Monitors program budget.

May manage event budgets.

Performs related responsibilities as assigned.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS: In addition to the duties outlined above, the Assistant Director may be required to:

Collaborate with Emory experts to develop and implement a series of workshops and webinars focused on both professional and personal development for the alumni community.

Collaborate with staff and volunteer leaders to execute industry specific alumni networking events.

Provide operational support for learning and development programs.

Lead the Alumni Career Coaches and Advisors program, leveraging a diverse portfolio of alumni experts.

Maintain knowledge/expertise of best practices and current trends in learning and development and alumni engagement.

Cultivate and manage relationships with, alumni, volunteers, and University colleagues and partners, and under close supervision.

Implement communication plans directed at alumni on an on-going basis.

Represent designated program/school within the division. Fosters relationships with other campus offices, schools/divisions, and occasionally, student entities.

Maintain information on selected alumni and prospects including contact reports in CRM system.

Research potential prospects for volunteer and engagement opportunities.

Track, evaluate, and meet program metrics and produce reports on program and event participants to provide an analysis of populations served and directly support achieving goals for respective programs.

Manage technology/information and master database software and applications with the ability to assess data used to determine the use of resources.

Some night and weekend work is required.

Some travel may be necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree and two years of alumni engagement, event planning, public relations or other related experience OR an equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Proven track record in successfully coordinating and executing virtual events.

Successful candidates will possess strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills and possess the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate a complex work environment.

Commitment to delivering excellent customer service, the ability to work collaboratively, and comfort working with ambiguity.

Experience with managing volunteers and events.

Experience working with various technologies including advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, mass email applications, database and project management software, and CRM systems.

Proficiency in utilizing graphic design tools, including Canva.

Prior experience in advancement, fundraising, alumni engagement, career services, non-profit, or a university setting.

Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and deadlines.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA.
