Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or related curriculum or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 4 years Automation Engineering, Mfg Engineering, or related technical experience.

Position Purpose:

Work/Lead independently to prepare, conduct, and evaluate for the implementation, programming and support of the use of automation equipment in production. Assist with the improvements and problem solving for manufacturing issues involved with the integration of automated techniques and equipment to other functions including facilities, maintenance, tooling, material fabrication, assembly methods and planning.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:
  • Support Production using automated equipment and troubleshoot issues either in programming, hardware or mechanical design. .
  • Study and optimize equipment performance for increase production capacity and equipment efficiency.
  • Provide necessary programming, simulation and modeling support for new and/or existing production. .
  • Interact and collaborate with equipment vendors on warranty repairs, necessary improvements and upgrades. .
  • Provide support to equipment with material supply of all necessary items needed for sustained production such as coupons, drill bits, hardware, etc. .
  • Proactive participation in continuous improvement activities aimed at improving processes involving automation. .
  • Identify and document automation, semi-automation, and handling improvement opportunities. .
  • Define and document required. specification for additional automated equipment using existing or known processes. .
  • Independently or with minimal assistance, project manage the evaluation, specification, installation and production qualification for additional automated equipment using existing or known processes in collaboration with procurement, finance and maintenance teams. .
  • Provide and/or contribute to the documentation of new or recent processes involving automation techniques or equipment. .
  • Design for Manufacturing: Influence where necessary product design to utilize automation technology. .
  • Provide and/or contribute to requested status, project or improvement reports. .
  • Independently lead/coordinate the implementation of projects between multiple organizations. .
  • Support all Safety, Sustainability and Ergonomic Initiatives.
  • Aid in development and maintenance of Business Continuity Plan. .
  • Additional Functions:
  • Work on special projects. .
  • Ensure Gulfstream Production and Quality policies are being practiced; make recommendations and implement procedures for improvement. .
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Other Requirements:
  • Proven knowledge of control systems, motion control, machine programming, and vision systems for automated equipment.
  • Knowledge of metrology and measurement techniques.
  • Knowledge of Lean and/or Six Sigma principles.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills required.
  • Must be knowledgeable about Engineering configuration requirements, tooling, quality control, plant safety, blueprint reading, and shop math.
  • Ability to operate computerized equipment, such as personal computers, CADAM, CATIA, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Six-Sigma or other data driven decision making experience highly desirable.
  • Must possess initiative, planning ability, excellent interpersonal skills and leadership abilities.
